Food & Drink☕️: Coffee because therapy is too damn expensive.. or atleast that was the case until now.
Global coffee drinkers who’d hoped the price of their morning fix would stop rising are in for a shock: The price of coffee is about to get even worse.
Safe to say there's a whole lotta angry Jennifers' right now. Goodbye Starbucks' Pumpkin Spice Lattes 👋
PS. Speaking of Starbucks, we just HAVE to say point this out:
Eat eggs & bacon for breakfast and you're a weirdo
Drink 46g of sugar (Starbucks Frappuccino) for breakfast and you're totally normal ?????!! 🤔
MAKE IT MAKE SENSE PEOPLE 🤯
Key Highlights, reported by Bloomberg:
💡The high-end arabica beans used by chains like Starbucks and other cafes have spiked in price, mainly due to major supply disruptions from Vietnam to Brazil
💡Prices for "Robusta beans", a favourite for instant coffee, have soared to the highest since the 1970s
💡This is also tied to bad weather: Droughts in Vietnam have led to a consecutive 4th year of shortages
💡Dry weather in Brazil has further reduced the size of its arabica crop significantly
💡Sellers have been raising prices and cutting discounts to protect their own margins
💡Many warn of more even more price increases ahead
💡Although consumers don’t easily give up their caffeine fix, more will choose to brew at home if prices continue rising
💡Grocery-store sales volumes of espresso and coffee concentrate have jumped sharply in the US, data shows, suggesting that more people are looking to stop spending money outside
💡Restaurant chain 'Pret A Manger' recently scrapped its UK coffee subscription that gave customers as many as 5 drinks per day.
Our Thoughts💡:
Umm you mean people are cutting down their spending on overpriced non-essential goods in an inflationary market with a customer base who are having to downsize is actually a cause for concern.. Who could've f***ing guessed??? 🙄🙄
Personally, we are NOT surprised that people are ditching their coffee & avo toast when its WAY, wayyyy cheaper to do it at home!
Like $12 bucks for a basic almond milk Cappuccino?! Stay strong millennials 🙏🏻
Sports 👟 : Nike loses revenue and credibility amongst the sports community.
Under CEO John Donahoe’s leadership, the world’s largest sneaker brand hit a $50 billion valuation, but it also ruined relationships with long-time retailers and business partners, including FootLocker and DSW.
Nike products accounted for roughly 75% of Foot Locker’s total purchases.
That number dropped to 70% in 2021, then below 60% in 2022.
Foot Locker sales slumped as the pullback accelerated, so the store filled the empty shelves with Pumas, Reeboks and Adidas.
“Ultimately, our team is working hard to make sure that we grow all brands, right?”
Nike now faces intense competition from On, Hoka, Salomon and Adidas which are majorly cutting into its revenue.
As Donahoe's contract is up in January, shareholders are calling for new management, Bloomberg reports.
No sh*t Nike is struggling.. The new Rich Fitness Girl Starter Pack👇🏻
Can't wait to get her IV drips at the farmers market, a Green Juice from Pressed and an Iced Oat Milk Latte from Starbucks. Cipriani for when she feels fancy 🍝
Dress code is Lululemon with Adidas Sambas and the Bottega Andiamo 👟
PS. She THRIVES on her Barry's Bootcamp membership 🏋🏻♀️
According to Bloomberg, Nike shareholders recently rejected two proposals aimed at improving workers' rights in high-risk countries.
Despite support from some shareholders, including Norway's wealth fund, both proposals were rejected.
However, the shareholders did approve exec compensation, with CEO John Donahoe receiving $29.2 million for 2024.
Our Thoughts💡:
So, the CEO takes home $29 MILLION dollars to create sneakers fewer people are wearing, with zero innovation in YEARS we might add.. while the company continues to ignore its environmental pack from labor rights to wage theft to basic human right issues ✋
Yep.. we've seen this movie before and we are NOT having it this year 🖕🏻

World 🇺🇸 : Trump target of 2nd assassination attempt in Florida.
The Former President was rushed to safety on Sunday after what the FBI called an apparent "assassination" attempt at Trump's golf course in West Palm Beach.
The incident comes almost exactly two months after a shooting at a Trump rally in Pennsylvania, which left Trump's ear wounded and one supporter dead.
A gunman on a roof, in clear view, fired at the leading Presidential candidate, and the only thing that prevented Trump from being dead, was his aim. One centimeter to the right and we'd be having a VERY different conversation.
NOW, an incident within the confines of his OWN home.. a short 5 minutes away from his Florida residence, Mar-a-Lago.
All these incidents are TOO CLOSE to the vest. God bless AMERICA 🙈
Key Highlights, reported by BBC:
💡The suspect has been identified as "Ryan Routh"
💡Details are still emerging about the incident
💡Agents opened fire when they spotted the gunman and fired 4-5 gunshots
💡The suspect dropped the rifle and fled in a vehicle, abandoning the weapon along with two knapsacks
💡Trump was not injured during the incident
Background on the suspect:
💡Mr Routh's son, Oran, described him as a "loving and caring father"
"I don’t know what has happened in Florida, and I hope things have just been blown out of proportion, because from the little I’ve heard it doesn’t sound like the man I know to do anything crazy, much less violent."
-Oran said in a statement to CNN
According to BBC:
💡Early reporting suggests Mr Routh had a criminal record, including carrying a concealed weapon and resisting arrest by a police officer,
💡In addition, acccording to his social media, Routh called for foreign fighters to go to Ukraine to battle against Russian forces.
💡There are also pro-Palestinian, pro-Taiwan and anti-China messages on his profile, including allegations about Chinese “biological warfare” and references to the Covid-19 virus as an “attack”.
Tech 📱: Do you often find yourself glued to your iPhone and scrolling endlessly as hours go by?
You’re not alone. Research shows that about 61% of people admit they’re addicted to the internet and their digital screens.
Social media and constant personal and work notifications have driven many people to seek Digital Detoxes.
Ladies, the CDC now recommends that you detox digitally and delete the number of that dude who texts you to "come over" or "wyd" at 3 am 🙄
PS. Like an overachieving crack addict, we sometimes decide to delete our Instagram and then come back when we realize we can't handle the withdrawals🙈
In order to focus, some executives are turning to so-called dumbphones, which can only text and make calls.
Also making a comeback: fax machines, per the Wall Street Journal. Snap Chairman Michael Lynton says they “grab people’s attention.”
Our Thoughts💡: We dk why people only assume Gen Z and young millennials need a digital detox. Like what about baby boomers???? They need it the effing MOST🤬🤬🤬
In the year, 2020 humanity was threatened with extinction. Panic spread across the planet like never before.
"What were you doing, grandpa?"
"Just sending memes to friends and stuff"
Big Tech 💻 : Amazon demands workers to come back to the office 5 days a week.
This is a big change from its previous hybrid policy of RTO of 3 days a week.
CEO Andy Jassy made the announcement, saying this will help employees "invent, collaborate, and be connected enough to each other and our culture to deliver the absolute best for customers and the business."
Please don’t believe one word of this guys. They want employees quit so they don’t have to pay out severance packages
PS. Andy Jassy, Just because you are miserable at home doesn't mean you should force other people to be around you 👋
Like 5 days a week is WILD🥵
According to CNN, the new policy takes effect on January 2, 2025.
Jassy has previously advocated that employees work in the office, writing that a physical presence improves company culture.
If Amazon employees do not get on board, it could ruin their chances of being promoted, and exceptions for working from home will be conditional to an additional layer of leadership approval.
