This Week in Review☕️: McDonalds beats Wall Street expectations with earnings | Elon replaces iconic blue bird Twitter logo | Johnson & Johnson lose bankruptcy case over talcum powder | Barbie fever is
Quick Bites:
Entertainment🍿: Barbie pulls in another $93 million, making it one of the highest-earning second weekends in history.
More than $700 million globally so far. That is a MASSIVE amount of money to be made out of taking women seriously. Seems like women know how to make $$$.. LOTS of it 🔥
FUND 👏🏻 FEMALE 👏🏻 FOUNDERS 👏🏻
Not far behind is Christopher Nolan's "Oppenheimer", which banked over $46 million in its 2nd weekend.
It is now also the first R-rated movie to gross more than $10 million for 10 days in a row, Variety reports.
Our Thoughts💡:
A movie ticket to watch Barbie costs $10. A movie ticket to watch Oppenheimer costs $10.
We gonna take that $20 and invest it in the stock market so we can get rich & not die tryin'
While y'all watching Margot Robbie dance around in a bubblegum pink miniskirt, we gonna hire her with our compounded returns 💰
That is the power of PASSIVE INCOME 😎
Food x Business🍔: McDonalds beats Wall Street expectations with Q2 earnings and revenue.
The fast-food giant reported net income of $2.31 billion, with same-store sales growing 11.7% globally, CNBC reports.

Ok guys, what's your comfort food and why is it McDonalds?
CEO Chris Kempczinski said McDonald's is doing especially well with consumers making under $45,000.
Execs noted that customers are "trading down" from pricier items to core ones and buying less overall.
The company particularly credited its recent marketing efforts- the 'Grimace's Birthday Meal'; The instagrammable purple milkshake went viral on social media resulting in an increase in sales.
Our Thoughts💡: Let's be honest, eating McDonald's has become a rite of passage. Can't help but pull over every time we cross those iconic "M"-shaped arches.
Sure it's not a dollar anymore but at $4.99- it's a SOLID bargain for a whole lot of American cheese, ketchup, mayo and meat stuffed in a bun💯💯
Health 🧴: Johnson & Johnson's bankruptcy case denied.
The court rejected J&J's latest effort to resolve almost 40,000 lawsuits claiming its talc-based products cause cancer by filing for bankruptcy.
And, so the healthcare company that has enjoyed the trust of parents for years finally faces the music of corporate corruption
These crooks exposed people to cancer for decades all while accumulating an asset base of over $200bn. Let's not forget that J&J agreed to pay $5bn in January 2022 for their role in the opioid epidemic!
This is just another big company profiting off us while getting a mere slap on the wrist.
Time for the tables to TURN. You CANNOT put a price on people's lives and get away with it🖕🏻
The court💡: "J&J has spent two years trying to convince us that somehow a company worth a half-trillion dollars is bankrupt [..] It's time for the nonsense to stop"
Johnson & Johnson's response💡: The company is fighting back and claims the ruling “lacks scientific merit”.
Primarily because, by settling the lawsuits in bankruptcy, J&J could prevent any new lawsuits from being filed by people who develop cancer in the future as a result of their talc use, Reuters reports.
Our Thoughts💡: J&J has been synonymous with "baby's silk skin", "best for baby", "every mother should have it" for as long as we can remember.
Also, as a young kid, how many times did your mom told you: "Why don't you slap on some powder? You'll look more fresh!"
Taking advantage of that trust and poisoning customers? We call it MURDER 🔪
Big Tech📱: Elon just X'd your bird.
X (aka the former Twitter) has officially replaced its famous blue bird logo, a week after Musk announced a rebrand.
As a user remarked: "X looks like a 7-11 male sex pill from 2004."
Key Highlights, reported by BBC:
💡Elon has long spoken of transforming Twitter into a much larger platform
💡He has previously praised China's WeChat - an "everything app" that combines dating, payments, travel, flight bookings, social media- and has said creating something "even close to that with Twitter... would be an immense success"
💡"We will add comprehensive communications and the ability to conduct your entire financial world"
💡Elon bought Twitter for $44bn last year. The messaging platform has lost nearly half its advertising revenue since then, and is under heavy debt. Elon hopes to increase revenue via the rebrand
Our Thoughts💡: The LEAST Elon could've done was make the "X" logo in blue so we knew which effing app we were getting notifications from.
Gosh we just don't understand throwing away a decade of brand value all for a rich dude in a mid-life crisis obsessed with a damn letter ❌
PS. The app developer that pushed the new "X" logo👇🏻
E-commerce🛒: Walmart invests $1.4bn in Indian e-commerce giant Flipkart, The Wall Street Journal reports.
The transaction puts Flipkart’s valuation at $35 billion.
Key Highlights, according to TechCrunch:
💡Walmart initially invested in the company in 2018, when it paid $16 billion for a 77% stake
💡It’s latest buy-in means it bought out Tiger Global’s remaining shares (4%) of Flipkart
💡Walmart now more exposure to the booming international digital-consumer market
💡Flipkart said last month its customer base stands at over 450 million, while it sells over 150 million products across 80-plus categories through its marketplace
“We remain confident in the future of Flipkart and are even more positive about the opportunity in India today than when we first invested”
-Walmart
