Quick Bites:
Celeb x Business 📲 : Kanye West has proposed to buy conservative social media app, Parler.
Elon is buying Twitter, Kanye is buying Parler and Donald Trump already owns Truth Social, ALL while we’re buying discounted bread from CVS because we got margin called on the dollar.. Go figure 🙄
PS. It’s a good time to be a conservative
Key Highlights, according to Reuters:
💡Parler, a popular app among conservatives has agreed to sell to Kanye for an undisclosed amount
💡Parler is Nashville-based and has raised about $56mn till date
💡Ye has been locked out of his Instagram and Twitter accounts after he posted anti-semitic comments recently
💡Ye had announced running for US President in 2020 to challenge Trump but later pulled out
Our Thoughts💡: As a user of Parler since its launch, we are personally onboard with this buyout.
Parler will now go from an app with 0 users to an app with 0 users and Kanye
Work 💻 : Your local pub could be your new office.
For remote workers, working from their local Starbucks has been the norm over the past 2 years.
However, pubs are entering the space as a new revenue stream in the face of rising costs, The Guardian reports.
The appeal of going to a "third workplace" is more about getting a change of scene and making connections in a social setting.
Which is why a growing number of pubs are now catering to the market by offering workplace packages- including lunch and soft drinks.
Personally we're stoked. Beer> Brew ANYDAY! 🍺
It also offers laptop workers the chance to save on the cost-of-living crisis.
Energy prices are predicted to cross £5,000 this winter, making it more costly to heat and power homes- enough for people to put on their coats and park themselves out of the house to avoid bills.
Does anyone else see the silver lining here?! Bills so damn high that you don't have a choice but to get plastered... GUILT-FREE! 🎉 🥳
Our Thoughts💡: Can't talk right now. Scarfing down Baked Buffalo Wings, Loaded Fries and Bread Pudding! And a pint of Budweiser, ofcourse.
Goodbye #WFH, Hello #WFP (working from pub) 🍻
Speaking of📈: The cost-of-living crisis has led to a shift in consumer spending habits.
Inflation in supermarkets is at the highest level since 2008, adding £643 a year to the average family’s grocery bill, which now exceeds £5,200.
Key Highlights, according to the Guardian:
💡Consumers are spending more on frozen food which can last longer
💡Consumers are spending more on imperfect, cheaper vegetables, known as "wonky veg" in some stores, as grocery prices soared by a record 14% last month
💡Families are switching to cheaper supermarket own-label goods
💡Retailers have also reported a sharp rise in sales of cosy clothing.
About as essential as the Banana Bread starter kit and Hand-sanitizer, sweats became the official #WFH uniform over Covid- and clearly, they're here to STAY!
EVEN Anna Wintour was seen donning them! If the ultimate decider on what's hot in fashion wears sweatpants, so are we! PERIOD.
💡Sales of energy-saving appliances like air fryers and sandwich makers are up 53%
💡Sales of Electric blankets are up 8% and Candles 9%- indicating some are preparing for winter blackouts in advance
💡Some are even going to the extent of installing new insulation or solar panels to cut costs.
Our Thoughts💡: Cost of living crisis and we're still spending $7 on Starbucks god
Art 🖼 : Environmental activists throw tomato soup over Vincent Van Gogh painting,
Metro reports.
Omfg a masters getting vandalized ?! We just know van Gogh rolling in his grave right now
'Just Stop Oil' protestors threw soup over van Gogh's iconic Sunflowers painting hanging in London's National Gallery.
The protestors then shouted:
💡"What is worth more, art or life?"
💡"The cost of living crisis is part of the oil crisis. Fuel is unaffordable to millions of cold hungry families"
💡"They can't even afford to heat a tin of soup, they added, waving a can of Heinz Tomato soup.
Key Highlights, from Metro:
💡Sunflowers is one of the most famous paintings by Van Gogh
💡'Just Stop Oil' is a coalition of groups lobbying the government to end all new oil and gas licensing and production
💡The National Gallery has confirmed the painting itself isn't harmed. There is only minor damage to the frame
💡The two protestors have been arrested
Our Thoughts💡: HOW IS SAUCING SUNFLOWERS IN TOMATO PUREE MEANT TO PAY OUR ELECTRICITY BILLS THIS OCTOBER?!
