Quick Bites:
Health🩸: Apple explores blood sugar app.
Apple is testing a glucose app that helps people with diabetes manage their food intake and make lifestyle changes.
Apple has long been open about creating a non-invasive, no-prick technology.
About time!
Diabetics: If I need 2.5 units per 15g of carbs.. but there is 67.9g of carbs.. and 3.3 serves per packet. How much insulin do I need?
Umm.. Managing diabetes is easy! It's like riding a bike. Except the bike is on fire and you're on fire and everything is on fire and you're in hell 🤯
Background💡: There are over 400 million diabetics in the world and 1.5 million deaths are directly attributed to diabetes each year, according to the WHO.
The average starting cost for a CGM (Continuous Glucose Monitoring) system is approx $1000 and even with insurance, you can end up spending thousands of dollars every year.
A app for free-to-minimal cost would be an absolute STEAL in comparison!
From a Sleep Watch to AirPod hearing aids, a renewed focus on health-related apps was a major feature of Apple's most recent product launch.
According to Bloomberg, Apple recently told employees with prediabetes to log changes to their own glucose levels in response to certain foods, yielding data which could be used to develop future blood-sugar apps.
Our Thoughts💡: Umm, personally, we're just thrilled it won't become a double-digit trillion dollar company by selling billions of the same phone each year.
Lets be honest: Apple just keeps making the same effing products over and over again thinking their customers will keep buying them.

Food 🍔 : E.Coli outbreak linked to McDonalds burgers.
Does anyone else find the timing of this strange considering Trump just worked the drive-thru at McDs? 🤔
They let him in ONCE, no hairnet, no gloves, rawdogging the fries.. Less than 48 hours later there's already deadly virus in 15 states and their stock is getting HAMMERED thru the roof
The E. coli "O157:H7" strain that has caused the death of one person is said to be a "very serious disease."
This is especially the case for the elderly, children and people who are immunocompromised, Reuters reports.
Key Highlights, reported by Reuters:
💡McDonalds Quarter Pounder hamburgers are found to be the cause
💡Slivered onions used in the Quarter Pounder was the likely source of the outbreak
💡75 people have been infected so far
💡Out of those, 22 people have been hospitalized
💡2 of them have developed 'Hemolytic uremic syndrome', a serious condition that can cause kidney failure
The world's largest burger chain has temporarily paused serving the Quarter Pounder in a fifth of its 14,000 US restaurants.
"Taylor Farms" was the supplier for the affected locations and McDonald's has initiated a voluntary recall.
The supplier also has recalled several batches of yellow onions produced in a Colorado facility.
Other major fast food chains such as Taco Bell and Burger King have also pulled fresh onions out of their menu items as they also source from Taylor Farms.
"We continue to believe that more infections are possible in the near term, and the greatest risk to investor, is the continuous negative news cycle."
-BTIG analyst Peter Saleh said.
Our Thoughts💡: McDonalds marketing:
Off work late? Hungry but too tired to cook?
Try the $5 meal deal from McDonalds. You will certainly not regret eating a McDouble Quarter Pounder, a McChicken with cheese, a medium fries, a small coke and a 8 pcs Chicken nuggets for $4.99
Politics 🇺🇸 : Beyonce officially endorses Kamala Harris.
The singer made a splash this past weekend by publicly backing Kamala Harris at a large rally in Houston.
Umm imagine voting for someone to run the whole country because a billionaire singer said so
PS. A lot of people are speculating that Beyonce received an estimated $10 million for her 3-minute speech.
Another 13,333 people damaged by Hurricane Helene will not recieve their promised $750 as it was all sent to a pop singer, compliments of Kamala.
@America, you're not mad enough yet.
Key Highlights, reported by Vox:
💡Beyoncé became the latest influential celeb to make a splashy endorsement of Harris
💡She joins the likes of Taylor Swift and Oprah, both of whom threw their weight behind the Harris campaign earlier this year
💡Beyoncé, given her sizable social media following (314 million Instagram followers to Swift’s 283 million), could well have a comparable effect
💡Celebrity endorsements haven’t necessarily been found to be effective- though they can create excitement among people who follow them
“If you suddenly see it in your social media feed or on TikTok or wherever, and see your favorite celebrity has done an interview or had a conversation with a politician, that politician is much more likely to get traction just by having that entry into people’s attention spans.”
-Josephine Harmon, an assistant professor of political science at Northeastern University told the news
Work 🇮🇸 : Iceland introduced a 4-day work week. Its economy has thrived.
Iceland is outperforming most of its European peers after the nationwide introduction of a shorter working week with no loss in pay, according to research released Friday.
Oh, you mean people don’t wanna work themselves to the bone & have no free time but to be exhausted & have zero friends. Can’t imagine why.
Umm Things we hate about our job:
1. Getting out of bed
2. People
3. People
4. People
Key Highlights, reported by CNN:
💡Last year, Iceland logged faster economic growth than most European countries after this experiment
💡In 2023, Iceland’s economy expanded by 5%, a growth rate second only to that of Malta
💡Its unemployment rate is also one of the lowest in Europe
More than 1% of Iceland’s working population in 2020 accepted the offer of a 4-day work week. The goal was to maintan or increase productivity while improving work-life balance.
Researchers found that productivity stayed the same or improved in most workplaces, while workers’ wellbeing increased “dramatically” from stress and burnout to health and work-life balance.
Our Thoughts💡:
Everyone NOT in Iceland:
Overworked, underpaid and under-appreciated. Just the perk of being middle-class with an Ivy League education
PS. When your boss tells you that you actually have to come into the office everyday👇🏻
Halloween 🎃 : Ok, ok ok its officially spooky szn!
In a much-needed turnaround from 2020 where the scariest mask was to wear NO mask at all, Halloween 2024 is happening in full swing this year.
Umm we know what we're going to be for Halloween this year. DRUNK.
After scourging the internet for you guys:
These are the Top Trending/Google searched costumes this year:
1. "Shrunken Head Bob" from Beetlejuice Beetlejuice
2. Superheroes remain favorites, with costumes like Wolverine, Deadpool
3. "Dr. Doom" from the Deadpool & Wolverine is also crossover trending
4. Pop culture icons such as Taylor Swift
5. Sabrina Carpenter
6. Barbie & Ken: This classic duo is perfect for couples and solo dressers alike
6. A Chipotle burrito has become a top costumes as well
7. For younger fans, characters from Disney’s Descendants and Pixar's Inside Out 2 have gained traction, featuring costumes of emotions like Envy and Joy. This is great for groups or families
In addition, the candy-craze during this season has boosted sales, which in turn has led prices to go way up.
Limited sugar supplies are causing soaring costs and even impacting production in some cases, according to The Wall Street Journal.
Producers are blaming the shortage on an agriculture policy that requires at least 85% of sugar purchases in the US to come from domestic processors, WSJ.
Our Thoughts💡: Long story short, y'all gonna have to shell out a lot more cash for your Reese's Peanut Butter Cups this year!
PS. On a related but unrelated note: Ladies, STOP using Halloween as an excuse to dress slutty. Dress slutty whenever tf you want
