Don't drink Milk!🥛
This Week in Review☕: Trillions in Market cap | The FDA warns about the dangers of dairy | | Apple to become major player in AI | Diamond industry in trouble | Buy gold from vending machines in 2024 |
Quick Bites:
AI 📱: Nvidia surpasses Apple to become the 2nd-largest public company in the US.
The AI chipmaker's market cap rose to $3.019 trillion last week, just surpassing Apple at $2.99 trillion.
Umm yeah, bc Tim Cook just doing copy n paste every year
The no.1 spot is still held by Microsoft, currently valued at $3.15 trillion.
PS. Despite being the CEO of Microsoft, Bill Gates has been very open about how his wealth has not made his life "more fulfilling".
💡Ok, we are gonna be honest here:
The phrase "money isn't everything" is such a baby boomer concept.. like we're not trying to get rich to eat Beluga caviar every night. We just need to get some pants hemmed that we will literally NEVER be able to afford until we restructure our entire economy
Background💡: Last June, Nvidia made headlines when its valuation soared past $1 trillion, with only 7 American companies every being worth a trillion dollars.
1 year later.. the stock has 3x'd. Wow 😮
Nvidia shareholders right now👇🏻
Fun Fact💡: In 1993, CEO Jensen Huang purchased 20% of Nvidia for $200 because that was the only cash he had in his pocket when the company was being incorporated.
Today, that stake is worth a cool $107 billion. Yep, you read that correctly: ONE HUNDRED AND SEVEN BILLY 🤯
Moral of the story: CASH IS KING 🙌🏻
Health 🥛: The FDA is warning people not to drink raw milk, claiming it can cause miscarriages and death, The Wall Street Journal reports.
This is the same FDA that recommends Honey Nut Cheerios as your 1/4 daily nutrition essentials 🙄Eat Cheerios but just don't pour raw milk in them kids
Umm we've faced more peer pressure to drink oat milk than to do cocaine.
Speaking of.. Shoutout to alol our girlies who get oat milk in their coffee but cream cheese on their bagel 🥯🥯 Representation matters 🙌🏻
Key Highlights, reported by WSJ:
💡The FDA warns that drinking unpasteurised milk can cause bacterial outbreaks
💡This can result in miscarriages, stillbirths, kidney failure and death
💡However, raw milk is presented as healthy, wholesome and natural on social media and the internet; Many high-profile figures tout raw milk as part of their daily routine.
💡Famous health-conscious celebs like Gwyneth Paltrow have openly said: she drinks raw cream in her morning coffee.
💡Others have turned their preference into a political stance; Presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has voiced support for “food freedom,” which has come to inlude everything from intuitive eating to diets that the FDA has termed dangerous.
💡On a 2022 panel at a conference, Kennedy said he “only drank raw milk."
The fact that people are ignoring the FDA's advice also shows how public trust in the government and health authorities is at an all-time low.
People are gravitating towards online bloggers, social platforms and alternative information sources.
Tbh we drank raw milk for years on our grandparents ranch. It was delish and we never got sick. Know your farmer people. The government can stay out of my business 🖕🏻
Our Thoughts💡: The FDA allows a ton of cancer-inducing food chemicals that are banned in more than half the world to freely exist in our everyday meals.
Vegetable oil, Potassium bromate, Butylated hydroxyanisole (BHA), Butylated hydroxytoluene (BHT), Azodicarbonamide (ADA), Titanium dioxide.. need we say more? 😡 Milk is the LEAST of your concerns people.
Also, a major hack to live more peacefully: Block any news from the FDA, CDC and any 3-alphabet authority. They are your WORST enemy 🤬🤬
Sports 👟: Fitness brand 'Lululemon' beats Wall Street expectations, but fumbles among stiff competition.
CEO Calvin McDonald touted the “strong momentum” the company is seeing in its international markets and hinted that it needs to do more work in the US (its largest market) to once again dominate the region.
The luxury athleisure brand faces intense competition from brands like Alo Yoga which have become a viral sensation globally.
Celebrity influencers including Hailey Bieber, Kylie Jenner and Bella Hadid, have played a key roles in growing Alo's popularity across the world.
No sh*t Lululemon, Nike, Adidas etc are struggling..
💡The new Rich Fitness Girl Starter Pack:
Can't wait to get her IV drips at the farmers market, a Green Juice from Pressed and an Iced Oat Milk Latte from Starbucks. Cipriani for when she feels fancy.
Dress code is Alo Yoga with Birkenstocks and the Bottega mini Jodie.
PS. She THRIVES on her Barry's Bootcamp membership
Key Highlights, reported by CNBC:
💡Lululemon is still growing in the US, but at a much slower pace than last year
💡Last quarter, the company struggled when it did not have the right sizes or colors in US stores, which hit sales
💡During Q1 this year, sales in the Americas increased 3%, vs a 17% jump in the year-ago period
💡In addition, denim has once again become super popular with shoppers. Investors have been concerned that customers could be swapping gym leggings for jeans, which could hit Lululemon’s topline unless it does not act fast
Retail 💎: Diamond industry "in trouble" after the prices of lab-grown diamonds go down even further, CNBC reports.
The famous “A diamond is forever” motto might be losing popularity, given the increasing number of people opting for lab-grown counterparts, gold, and even other colored gemstones.
Isn't it actually crazy that we figured out how to make diamonds that are cheaper and as high in quality, but some people are STILL like no thanks, its the suffering that makes it precious
Key Highlights, reported by CNBC:
💡Lab-grown diamonds can be upto 85% cheaper than natural diamonds
💡Sales surged from just 2% of the global jewellery market in 2017 to 18.4% in 2023
💡This has led to the price of natural diamonds to have fallen 5.7% so far this year, declining more than 30% from their all-time high in 2022
💡In addition, the case for buying diamonds as an investment has decreased in popularity
💡Diamonds were seen as an asset and inflation hedge over the last 50 years, however that mindset has faded away.
Our Thoughts💡: The truth is- the famous rule of spending "a 2-month salary on an engagement ring" has become a distant future for many in this uncertain economy.
Let's be honest guys, buying a diamond ring (atleast a super costly, natural one from Earth's mantle and what not) is the GREATEST marketing scam of all time.
And it all started with DeBeers "Diamonds are forever" campaign in 1948 when they convinced every woman that a ring equates to love. Bout' time people wake the f**k up!
ALSO, let us get this straight ladies:
You want a 10 carat emerald cut.. but you don't wanna do NOTHING? 🤔🤔🤔
Finance 💰: Speaking of precious stones, gold is the most popular when it comes to an investment and countries like South Korea want to make it easier to buy.
In South Korea, you can now buy gold bars from vending machines to increase your investment portfolio, Bloomberg reports.
According to Bloomberg, the East-Asian country has set up more than 30 retail stores throughout the country, where the vending machines are handing out gold bars as large as 37.5 grams.
The price changes daily but starts at about 88,000 won ($64) for a half-gram bar.
The demand for gold- whose market price hit a record high of more than $2,400 an ounce in May, may be surging among millennials and Gen Z.
Gen Z is gravitating towards investing in gold for various reasons.
One of the primary reasons is as a hedge against a volatile stock market and increasing economic uncertainty. The younger generation is more cautious and gold is seen as a relatively "safe" investment option.
Additionally, Gen Z may be attracted to the tangible, sense of security it provides in their investment portfolio.
