Quick Bites:
Artificial Intelligence📱: OpenAI to set up shop in New York city.
Fresh off a staggering $6.6 billion funding round, the maker of ChatGPT is eyeing its 1st outpost in NYC, leasing 90,000 square feet of office space in Soho, The Wall Street Journal reports.
Things Sam Altman's success has taught us:
A degree doesn’t guarantee success
Nothing beats a good night sleep
Make your coffee at home
Food is expensive
Furniture is expensive
Read the fine print
Don't trust humans
Trust bots
Buy the DIP
Background💡: OpenAI's current valuation is $157 billion.
In addition, the company has a $4 billion revolving line of credit, with an option to increase it by an additional $2 billion. This brings its total liquidity to more than $10 billion, CNBC reports.
The $6.6 billion raised as recently as last Wednesday has an extensive and impressive roster of major investment firms and big tech companies like:
JPMorgan Chase, Citi, Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, Santander, Wells Fargo, SMBC, UBS, and HSBC.
Umm ofcourse Open AI's valuation is gonna be a bajillion f**king dollars
Therapy is expensive but venting to ChatGPT is free. The choice is obvious. DUH
The company also leased a 6-story tower in San Francisco last month. But don't expect any housewarmings yet as the company is grabbing headlines for "burning through cash".
Per financial documents seen by The New York Times:
OpenAI expects to record a loss of about $5 billion in 2024, driven by the rising cost of salaries, rent and computing power- which is its largest expense.
Our Thoughts: Meanwhile, we been making coffee at home instead of getting Starbucks the past two months which according to economists should've atleast made us millionaires by now so can someone tell us wtf is going on ???????
PS. Being an adult is realizing that $100 is little money to have, but a lot to owe
Travel: Taking that trip can prevent wrinkles, a new study published in the Journal of Travel Research reports.
"Forget about retinol night creams. Travel could be the best way to defy premature aging."
Umm yeah, we'd do anything to be 40,000 feet away from everyone and their crap
PS. Guys, don't be scared of aging. Turns out getting older just means you get excited about different flavors of humus
Oh and getting lit about eating pizza without taking Lactaid first
My husband calls my travel bills a scam but I been using $100 Neutrogena's Rapid Wrinkle Cream for 6 months and still aging like a raisin scone
My parents friends' be commenting: "You don't look your age"
OK SO WHAT TF DO YOU WANT US TO DO NANCY??????!!!!!!!
Key Highlights, reported by Forbes:
Leisure travel “helps alleviate chronic stress and encourage normal functioning of the self-defense system"
“Engaging in recreation potentially releases tension and fatigue in the muscles and joints"
Travel often involves physical activities such as hiking, climbing, walking and cycling. “Physical exertion can boost metabolism"
Physical exercise while traveling “may also improve blood circulation and aid waste elimination to collectively maintain an active self-healing system”
Our Thoughts: Speaking of travel..
Isn't it crazy that security at every level of the airport is insane until you get to baggage claim. Then it's like take whatever bag you want.
PS. Who else gets stressed that they accidentally packed 4 kilos of cocaine and a dead goat walking thru "Nothing to declare" at the airport
Health: Food poisoning dangers are real- especially after severe weather.
There is a rise in foodborne illnesses like salmonella and E. coli after natural disasters, when power outages affect cold storage, according to the CDC.
Umm the worst part about food poisoning is that you paid for it.. Like:
Here's your mad cow steak with a side of spinach in E.coli sauce and your baked potato loaded with rancid butter and sour cream.. ENJOY
Hurricanes, extreme heat or cold and other natural disasters often create unexpected complications such as: extended power outage of refrigerators, flooding, mold damage and other emergencies.
This increases the chances of food poisoning, CNN reports.
Here are some key pointers on how to keep your food safe as the weather changes:
Make sure your fridge is working properly at 40 degrees Fahrenheit or below. Meanwhile, your freezer should be at 0 degrees F or below
Keep foods separate from each other in the the refrigerator. For example, keep deli meats and cheeses away from fruits and vegetables
Don't keep cooked food out at room temperature for more than 2 hours.
"Leftovers that cannot be kept at 40 degrees F or lower should be thrown out”
People with pre-existing conditions should be more careful;
"Pregnant women, the very young and the very old, and people with compromised immune systems are more at risk for contracting serious diseases, like listeria, that can occur with improper food handling or storage”
Our Thoughts:
When you've almost finished your meal then see health inspectors arrest the restaraunt owner
Politics x Culture: Kamala Harris defends not having biological children by stating “It’s not the 1950s anymore.”
Sarah Sanders, the Republican governor of Arkansas, said last month that her three children serve as a “permanent reminder of everything that is at stake in this country.”
“My kids keep me humble. Unfortunately, Kamala Harris doesn’t have anything keeping her humble.”
Umm we’ll never understand why the GOP is so, SO fixated on another women’s uterus! It’s CRAZY that we’re almost in 2025 and people are still bothered by women who don't have/want children. It’s not a one-size-fits-all path!
PS. We just wanna clarify:
Kamala DOES have children: 2 step-children through her 10-year marriage to her husband, Doug Emhoff.
That’s why the emphasis was on “biological”children and a MASSIVE F**K U to anyone who thinks step parents or adoptive parents are any less because they didn’t contribute an egg or sperm!!
Trump: The US is being run “childless cat ladies who are miserable at their own lives and the choices that they’ve made.”
Kamala’s response: “I love those kids to death. Family comes in many forms, and I think that increasingly, all of us understand that this is not the 1950s anymore.”
“I feel very strongly, we each have our family by blood and then we have our family by love. And I have both. And I consider it to be a real blessing.”
Automotive: Tesla sales increase, suggesting electric car demand is rebounding.
The company reported a 6.4% gain for the latest quarter, its first such increase this year, reported by The NY Times.
Earlier this May, Tesla said it planned to spend "well over" half a billion dollars to expand its electric-vehicle charging network this year, CEO Elon Musk said.
As the demand for EVs shoot up again, oil giants like BP have also entered the electric-car charging space. The company plans to spend $1 billion by 2030 to install 3,000 charging locations across the US.
Umm BP entering the EVs is like watching your great grandpa trying to boogie to a TikTok dance
It's weird, unexpected, cringe and TOTALLY terrifying, but you gotta give em' credit for trying right? Gotta remind people you exist.
Tesla's 6% revenue surge has been the 1st quarter of year-over-year growth in 2024 and the 3rd-largest quarterly number in the company's history.
