Gen Z hates the office ☕️
This Week in Review ☕️ : The World faces War | A Meta Assistant for the Metaverse | Gucci x Adidas rock Milan | Starbucks doubles down on Oat Milk | The New trends this Spring | Ukraine-Russia update
Quick Bites:
WFH 💻 : Gen Z hates the office.
According to The Wall Street Journal, those born from 1997 onwards say they don't want to work in an office full time.
Around 69% of Gen Zers surveyed said they would like to work remotely atleast half the time.
Personally, we didn't need a global pandemic to witness the end of the corporate dream.
As soon as Brooks Brothers' bankruptcy filing in 2020, it was clear to us that yoga sweats killed GenZ-ers long before Covid hit town!
Those who graduated right before or during the pandemic have never set foot in an office. They don't know the value of in-person interaction- nor do they wish to.
However, researchers say this could lead to loneliness and depression in the long-run.
Personally, we believe Covid paranoia is a ploy by the Gen Z workforce to permanently work from home, crash the economy and elect Bernie Sanders.. just sayin'
What the "corporate" world doesn't understand- for young adults, their profession is more than their monthly paycheck. It's about purpose, flexibility and mobility.
The pandemic has not only made WFH the 'new normal' but it has also boosted the remote work paycheck.
The truth is- you can make a lot of money working from your home.
Our Thoughts💡: Tbh, we're all for being remote but #WFH has def blurred the boundaries between work and personal space!
However, a well-balanced diet of Doritos & 10 expressos a day has def helped!🐷
Big Tech 🔈 : Meta (aka the new Facebook) is building a AI voice assistant to help humans navigate the metaverse.
Hmm.. if Zuckerberg thought living in the metaverse was so awesome, why would he just buy 110 acres in Hawaii? 🤔
Key Highlights:
💡These "Builder Bots"can interact hands-free with AR and VR glasses
💡They can enable users to build up virtual environments with voice commands, creating a landscape, trees and other settings upon request
💡A translation system that would enable them to learn every language
💡"Meta wants its voice assistant to be better at picking up contextual clues in conversations, along with other data points that it can collect about our physical body, like our gaze, facial expressions, and hand gestures"
-Vox News
So, basically an updated version to blow Siri and Alexa out of the water
Our Thoughts💡: Folks who are hullabalooing about how ridiculous the metaverse is just don't get how high the stakes are here.
We're in the beginning stages of an explosive shift from Web2 to Web3 and FB gets it.
The truth is that Web3 is still not fully understood by the masses. Early adopters will capture the market completely.
More importantly, if Zuckerberg wants to continue selling our data to advertisers, he's gonna need bigger and better ways to advertise on!
Duh! 🤷🏻♀️
Coffee Culture ☕️ : Coffee because therapy’s too damn expensive..
Starbucks launches new oat milk drink just in time for spring.
Like it or not, Starbucks is urban America. The Seattle-based giant has ingrained itself in our daily lives one frothy macchiato at a time.
More so, it's appetite for global domination has only increased this year with it doubling down on Oat Milk.
Background💡: Last spring, Starbucks launched Oatly across its US stores.
To promote the launch, they crafted a 'Iced Brown Sugar Shaken Oatmilk Espresso', which immediately sold out leading to oat milk shortages.
Y'all know when Starbucks runs out of your favorite milk, it's nothing less than a national emergency!🚨
Available from March 1, the new drink combines Starbucks’ Blonde espresso and oat milk blended with a caramelized vanilla flavor, Vegan News reports.
Believe it or not, there’s plenty of turf this new latte has yet to claim. Vast swaths of vegan communities are still untouched by the iconic Starbucks Green-Siren logo.
Our Thoughts💡: Our dopamine hits lately: Dominoes American Cheeseburger Pizza, Starbucks Oat Milk Lattes, Friends reruns and riding the subway.
PS. $6 bucks for a basic Oat Cappuccino?! Stay strong millennials 🙏
Fashion 👠 : Gucci and Adidas have officially announced their upcoming collaboration.
When it comes to fashion, having Gucci tastes on an Adidas budget can leave you wishfully flipping through the pages of Vogue.
But what if you could wear that pricey dress or new sneakers you saw on the 'gram for a fraction of the price?!
Joining forces for the 1st time, both fashion houses aim to bring the world of sports and high-fashion together.
Rihanna and A$AP Rocky were front and center for its runway debut in Milan Fashion Week.
Needless to say, RiRi crushin' it even while preggers 🙌🏻
Despite this partnership, this is not the 1st time such brands have collaborated.
The past few years have seen the rise of "high-low" collabs; a comfortable detente between luxury brands and fast-fashion.
Balmain x H&M, Jean Paul Gaultier for Lindex, H&M x Brock Collection, Puma x Charlotte Olympia, Missoni for Target and it goes on..
