Quick Bites:
Drinks🍸: Mexican liquor is increasing in popularity, as demand for tequila skyrockets.
All of our high school friends took their babies to the pumpkin patch with their husbands today. Meanwhile, we just ripped a tequila shot got bamboozled and texted everyone on our contact list
We on our own timeline 😬
The growth of tequila and mezcal in particular has been fueled by premium brands like Casamigos and Don Julio, which are priced higher at retail and are produced with 100% agave, without flavoring or additives, CNBC reports.
The George Clooney-founded Casamigos, which paved the way for celeb-owned alcohol brands, is this year’s top-selling liquor.
Umm no sh*t. Casamigos really lit. U wake up with no hangover no headache. Just full memory loss. Bc u can't regret what u can't remember right?
That's gods work right there🙌🏻
“Tequila has been such a national treasure here in Mexico [..] Now, it’s breaking through geographies and flying to other countries as well.”
“It’s putting Mexico on the map”
-Global brand director of Diageo-owned Don Julio Tequila.
The rise in demand is the result of savvy marketing aimed at making Mexican brands appealing to international customers, while still resonating with their home country, CNBC reports.
The US is the largest market for Mexico’s agave-based spirits and its top beers.
The segment is poised to pass vodka in 2023 to become the country’s fastest-growing spirits category in terms of volume, CNBC reports.
In addition, consumers’ willingness to spend more on higher-quality liquor has driven demand, CNBC.
Our Thoughts💡: Oof we jusy love spicy margaritas. We want to be one for Halloween this year. Specifically, a spicy & salted pineapple jalapeño margarita with tajin on the rim 🌶
Bc if you're gonna be salty atleast bring the tequila right? 🥰
PS. Us after chasing tequila with wine👇🏻
War🚫: Over 1,100 dead in Israel-Hamas war.
This past weekend, the world witnessed an unexpected attack on Israel, with violent, graphic imagery flooding social media.
On the 50th anniversary of the Yom Kippur war, Israel is once again drawn to fight for its life.
The significance of the date would not have been lost on Hamas leadership.
Background: Israel-Hamas broken down (as simply as possible):
Who is Hamas?
💡Hamas was founded in 1987 by a Palestinian refugee
💡It has deep ties to the Muslim brotherhood
💡They have been responsible for the killing of many Israeli soldiers and civilians
💡They are the governing power in the Gaza strip
💡Hamas does not recognize Israel’s right to exist as a state and has spoken about destroying all Jews from the region
💡The US has deemed it a terrorist group
What is the Gaza strip?
💡The Gaza Strip is a 25-mile long territory between Israel, Egypt and the Mediterranean Sea
💡It is home to about 2.3 million people
👍The Gaza Strip has been almost completely cut off from the rest of the world for nearly 17 years
💡The Human Rights Watch have called it the "largest open-air prison"
Why are they fighting?
💡There has been constant friction between Israel and Palestinian militants for decades, but the attack by the militants on Saturday came without warning
💡Hamas launched a surprise assault by land, sea and air, killing hundreds and taking others captive
Israeli Retaliation & Casualties (as of October 10):
💡The Gaza Strip has been under heavy bombardment since Monday
💡The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) are committed to "ensuring Hamas doesn't have any military capabilities" by the end of the war
💡Israel has taken over a 100 hostages and the death toll on both sides has crossed 1,500. In addition, atleast 11 Americans have been killed in the process
💡Israel has also tightened the Gaza blockade: "Nothing is allowed in or out. There will be no fuel, electricity or food supplies. We fight animals in human form and proceed accordingly."
What could happen next?
💡Israel's counteroffensive against Hamas might stretch for months, if not years as Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu seeks "mighty vengeance"
💡“And that means not just airstrikes, but also ground occupation- house to house- in Gaza, with lots of casualties"
💡A series of claims have emerged that Iran may have been involved, given Tehran’s long-time support for Hamas.
"If it’s true that Iran is involved, there would be larger implications. Israel could strike Iran."
💡The weekend attacks could also ruin efforts brokered by the US to normalize ties between Saudi Arabia and Israel.
“The Israeli-Saudi deal which was close to getting done is now over [..] If anything was accomplished that Hamas wanted, that would be the single biggest thing”, CNBC
Sports🏀: The NBA eyes a potential $75 billion for its next media rights deal.
The number could go upto $100 billion- a whopping 4x jump from the $24 billion combined deal the NBA signed with ABC/ ESPN and Warner Bros, CNBC reports.
Sports biz is BOOMING💯
Sports rights have emerged as a huge part of the shifting media landscape.
The NBA is in a unique position to dominate it as every media rights renewal for the NBA happens about once a decade.
Streaming giants like Netflix have contemplated buying sports rights before. The world’s largest streamer unsuccessfully bid for live F1 racing rights last year.
Big tech from YouTube TV, Amazon, Apple and Netflix are to enter the upcoming negotiations. The league is said to want a maximum of two or three partners.
It’s still too early to know what this means, but this huge wild card might just add to the riches of the NBA as it decides how to leverage its rights.

Fashion👕: Moon a la mode? Prada to design spacesuits after landing NASA moon contract.
Italian fashion giant 'Prada' and Texas-based startup 'Axiom Space' will collaborate to design NASA's lunar spacesuits for the Artemis III mission planned for 2025.
Fashion on the launchpad > Fashion on the Runway.. The NEW world order 🚀
“Prada’s technical expertise with raw materials and manufacturing techniques [..] will ensure not only the comfort of astronauts on the lunar surface, but also the much-needed human factors considerations absent from legacy spacesuits”
-Axiom Space CEO Michael Suffredini.
An outta this WORLD collab! Artemis astronauts gonna moonwalk in style 🌚
Our Thoughts💡: Spacesuits by Prada? SLAYY🙌🏻
Food 🥬: Being vegetarian might be in your DNA, new study finds.
A new study ALSO found that if you cut out all cheeseburgers and only eat bland shit like arugula and beans, you can eliminate whatever little shred of a will to live you have left..
People are making health choices with one obvious trend emerging: The shift towards a plant-based lifestyle.
People choose a vegetarian diet for different personal reasons- weight loss, the environment, animal protection, climate change, random experiment.
Researchers says "We wanted to know if genetics is part of the reason."
Despite finding 34 genes that may play a role in people adhering to a strict vegetarian diet, it is not enough to reach a conclusion.
"Ethnicity is a confounding factor [..] For example, if the study had included people from India, where vegetarianism is more common, you might see genes that are associated with being Indian rather than being a vegetarian."
-Dr. Nabeel Yaseen, of Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine
Our Thoughts💡: Eating is not complicated guys. Humans did it perfectly well for centuries without a single nutritionist or study.
Then we tried to outsmart nature and decided that Frosted Flakes, Honey Nut Cheerios and Taco Bell are healthier than eggs, meat, cheese and butter.
And we wonder why our generation has a global obesity epidemic.. Go figure 🤷🏻♀️
