It Hertz 💔
This Week in Review ☕️ : Elon Musk continues his reign | Squid Game is the Biggest Show Ever | South Korean TV in the spotlight | This Classic Dessert gets a revamp | Spooky Season Mania takes over |
Quick Bites:
Tesla 🚘 : Tesla hits $1 trillion market cap for the first time.
This comes right after car rental giant- Hertz says it will order 100,000 electric vehicles.
Tesla's stock price is so high it Hertz💔
PS. Customer bios in the cloud would mean any Tesla you rent is setup as soon as you get in. Damn💯
Tesla's market cap makes it the 1st car manufacturer and the 6th company in history to hit $1trn in market cap.
Elon Musk's net worth has also surged by a whopping $36bn, extending his reign as the World's Richest Person, Bloomberg reports.
Our Thoughts💡: On another note, insiders speculate Tesla is considering to add Food & Drink service options to its charging stations after the company filed a trademark in "restaurant services".
Hmm.. A drive-through cheeseburger could def be a retro-style solution to charge EVs! 🍔
PS. If it isn't vegan, the Bay Area crowd is gonna roast Elon 🙈
Entertainment 📺 : Netflix claims 142mn households globally watched its mega-hit "Squid Game" in its first month, a statistic it called "mind-boggling".
PS. 142mn is 66% of the streaming platform's total user base... Damn these numbers are unreal 🔥
Key Highlights from Netflix's Q3 Earnings:
💡Squid Game is Netflix's #1 program in 94 countries
💡Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos claims there's “a very good chance it’s going to be our biggest show ever”
💡132mn people have watched atleast 2 minutes of the show
💡87mn have finished the entire series
💡The show has crossed $900mn in value while it just cost a mere $21mn to produce
We're in the 2 minute camp. Not impressed 👋
Netflix has managed to find strong foothold in South Korea at a time when many Korean films have resonated strongly with users in the US.
This is primarily as they share the theme of class struggle and survival; Train to Busan, Burning and most famously, Parasite.
According to the director, the show's narrative reflects the "competitive society" we live in today. "This is a story about losers, those who struggle [..] while the winners level up."
Our Thoughts💡: Squid Game creator Hwang Dong-huk wrote the TV show's 1st draft a decade ago. After 10 years of redrafts + 6 lost teeth from the stress of filming (yep, that really happened), it has created $900mn in value.
Alternatively, Hwang could've invested that same amount in Tesla back in 2010 and could've cashed out today at +$3bn given Tesla's compound growth rate is of +45% annually.

WFH 💻 : What the "corporate" world doesn't understand- for driven people, their profession is more than their monthly paycheck. It's about purpose, flexibility and mobility.
The pandemic has not only made WFH the 'new normal' but it's also boosted the remote work paycheck.
The truth is- you can make a lot of money working from your home.
Personally, we didn't need a global pandemic to witness the end of the American dream.
As soon as Brooks Brothers' bankruptcy filing last year, it was clear to us that yoga sweats killed millennials long before Covid hit town!
Remote jobs rose to nearly 15% of all job listings that pay $80,000 or more in the US and Canada, according to high paying jobs-listing site 'Ladders'.
This figure was a mere 4% in early 2020.
“The commute from your bedroom is here to stay”
-Ladders CEO Marc Cenedella
The industries paying the most in remote work include finance, accounting, legal, insurance, retail and consumer goods.
Our Thoughts💡: Tbh, we're all for being remote but #WFH has def blurred the boundaries between work and personal space!
However, a well-balanced diet of fries & 10 expressos a day has def helped!

Food 🍪: Baking Expert 'Dorie Greenspan' reinvents the Chocolate Chip Cookie, Bloomberg reports.
Afterall, everyone needs a classic chocolate chip cookie recipe in their repertoire!
In her terrific new cookbook 'Baking with Dorie', Greenspan unveils her unique secrets in whipping up the perfect sweet. She has already written 13 books mainly devoted to desserts.
Six of the book's recipes are specifically for cookies, including a Mary Dodd Maple Bacon version and a "World Peace Cookies 2.0" version, Bloomberg reports.
The one recipe that especially stands out from her cookbook is of Caramel Chocolate Chunk Cookies.
Caramel is perfect for a holiday splurge- and Greenspan's recipe is decadent in every sense of the word, pairing a buttery base and a deep-gooey center!
“Baking at home was a necessity during the pandemic but audiences were limited. Now is a time of pleasure for bakers. We bake to share. And we have more people to share with.”
-Greenspan in her interview to Bloomberg
Our Thoughts💡: As we step into the festive season this 2021, it's helpful to have such renowned bakers revamp our cookie arsenal!
We're over serving our Grandma's Almond Biscotti! Been a damn decade 🙈
