Fashion : Japan's UNIQLO snags title of The World's Most Valuable Fashion Brand with $103bn valuation.
Our Winter Mood: Uniqlo Heattech. But also matcha and cookies
The company's unique marketing strategy of "totally ignoring fashion"and instead, inspiring the world to "dress casual" has served it well with remote work in the wake of the pandemic.
Uniqlo’s parent company Fast Retailing has surpassed Spain’s Inditex, owner of brands such as Zara, in terms of market value.
However, in terms of revenue, it is still in 3rd place as of 2020 :
Zara: $34.1bn
H&M: $22.5bn
Uniqlo: $18.9bn
One of the primary reasons for it's growth has been Uniqlo's strong presence in China.
"Shareholders like Fast Retailing's focus on Asia, especially China whose economy has recovered quickly from the coronavirus-triggered slump thanks to the government's containment efforts."
With 791 locations, China is the second biggest market after Japan for Uniqlo, with 815 stores, Nikkei reports.
