Quick Bites:
Politics 🇬🇧 : "These cow-buffalo grazers will take over such a big country?"
-Winston Churchill, 1946
Today, the Brits have chosen an Indian to govern over their "big country".
Rishi Sunak has officially become UK's next Prime Minister.
On another, perhaps even more important, note:
Sunak has now joined the club of the Most Important Brown People that control the nuclear button: Narendra Modi, Shehbaz Sharif and now Rishi Sunak!
Lots of interesting facts surrounding Sunak's appointment as PM:
💡The 1st PM to practice a non-Christian faith; He is Hindu
💡The 1st Asian MP
💡The richest member of Parliament in history; net worth of £730 million (PS. That's around twice the estimated wealth of King Charles III)
💡At 42, the youngest PM in over 200 years
Our Thoughts💡: Irrespective of his politics or how he came to be PM, the fact that a man of Indian descent has become the 1st-ever Asian Prime Minister on Diwali is an outstanding achievement and inspiring to millions of immigrants across the world!🙌🏻
The truth is REPRESENTATION MATTERS. Period.
Ok, now let's just hope he doesn't resign before end of November 🙏
Luxury 💰 : Calling all billionaires! Rolls-Royce just revealed 'Spectre'- its 1st fully electric vehicle.
No pressure but the debut is a historic moment as it is 120 years after the founder- Charles Rolls predicted an electric future for his cars.
Damn.. who else has ever kept a promise for over a century?!
Hundreds of wealthy individuals in the US have already put deposits down for Spectre, with a starting price of $413,000, CNBC reports.
Hmm.. seems a bit excessive for us. Sticking with our Subaru 🚘
CEO Torsten Muller-Otvos told CNBC the "order book looks strong".
This comes after Rolls-Royce delivered 5,586 cars in 2021, marking a record production year for the firm.
Clearly, no cost of living crisis among the 1% of the 1%!!
Key Highlights, according to CNBC:
💡Most expensive coupe on the market
💡It is being termed as "Ultra Luxury Electric Super Coupe"
💡520 km Range
💡577 Horsepower
💡0 to 100 km per hour in 4.5 seconds
💡A massive 900Nm of peak torque
💡In terms of price, the Spectre EV will be positioned between the Culinan and Phantom
Art 🖼 : Mashed potato thrown over $100nn Monet painting.
Hmm.. how effective do you think it is to sauce great art in fatty vegetables to reduce carbon emissions..🤔?
Climate Change activists have thrown mashed potatoes at Claude Monet's 'Les Meules' painting in Germany.
Key Highlights, according to Metro:
💡The campaigners are part of a group called 'Last Generation'
💡The incident took at place in Potsdam Barberini museum in Germany yesterday
💡The activists entered in high vis jackets and threw potatoes before gluing themselves to the wall
💡The video then went up on the group's Twitter page, where a spokesperson said: "We make this Monet the stage and the public the audience"
Similar demonstrations have been taking place across Europe off late. Just recently, two activists threw tomato soup on a Van Gogh painting in London's National Gallery.
We just know van Gogh and Monet rolling in their graves right now
Mental Health 🧠 : Do you constantly feel burned out?
According to Psychology Today, burnout is more than just hating your job.
It's a combination of "emotional exhaustion, depersonalisation, and reduced feelings of personal accomplishment".
According to the study in Psychology Today, a break from daily routine might not be enough to help burnout.
Instead, employers need to foster a deeper cultural change in the workplace and therapy may be the solution if your personality is prone to burnout.
From mindful meditation to setting up zen spaces in the office, many companies indeed made their teams' wellbeing a priority in the pandemic, BBC reports.
However, despite increased efforts, there is still a stigma around discussing mental health.
Roughly 91% of workers in the UK and 92% in the US say they believe those with burnout aren't treated the same, according to a recent survey.
This comes as Prince Harry urged companies to give young staff more time to focus on their mental health, as he opened up about his own struggles with burnout recently.
Ok.. but we still haven't figured out what The Duke of Sussex gets burnout from?🤔
Our Thoughts💡: Hmm.. Prince Harry saying "every single person has access to @BetterUp coach" sounds more like he's using his royal status to sell a $279 per-month app for his own gain.. which is now causing us some serious burnout! 😤
