Movie Buffs & Crypto Junkies🍿
This Week in Review ☕️ : Princess Diana reimagined | The 78th Venice Film Festival | Plant-based leads the way | Higher Education has never been more appealing | Calling all Movie Buffs | El Salvador
Quick Bites ☕️ :
Crypto📈: Calling all crypto junkies!
While, Bitcoin just became legal tender in El Salvador today, many countries are cracking down the whip on digital coins.
According to Euronews Next, these are the countries where crypto is restricted or illegal:
💡Algeria: illegal to buy, sell, use or hold crypto
💡Bolivia: complete ban since 2014
💡China: complete ban
💡Colombia: banks are not allowed to facilitate Bitcoin transactions
💡Russia: not illegal but still controversial
💡North Macedonia: only European country to have an official ban
💡Iran: ongoing 4 month ban as unlicensed mining of crypto was contributing to power shortages.
(Fun Fact: 4.5% of the world's Bitcoin mining takes place in Iran)
💡Vietnam: illegal and subject to punishment of fines ranging from 5600-7500 euros
So... all the authoritarian governments? That should tell you all you need to know
Meanwhile, Events in 2021 for a bullish Bitcoin:
💡El Salvador makes Bitcoin official currency
💡Coinbase IPO crossing +$100bn
💡Elon Musk & SpaceX own Bitcoin
💡Tesla bought $1.5bn
💡BlackRock bought futures
💡Deutsche Bank: "Bitcoin too big to ignore"
💡Visa allows customers to pay via Bitcoin
Our Thoughts💡: The countries banning it are exactly the ones that need Bitcoin as a solution. Central Banks will be exposed- you either join the $BTC club and ride the beta wave or you're out. No third way this works; Go Big or Go Home 👋
PS. Forward this email if you're holding!! 🚀
Food 🥬 : Plant-based foods market to hit $162bn by the next decade, Bloomberg Intelligence reports.
The current value of the market is $29.4bn as of 2021.
Me n my bestie finding each other at the Beyond Meat section at CVS this AM 🙌🏻
Key Highlights by Bloomberg:
💡The plant-based market will make up to 7.7% of the global protein market by 2030
💡Industry giants- Beyond Meat, Impossible Foods and Oatly will pioneer this shift by partnering up with established restaurants
💡Major chains like Chipotle, Taco Bell and Jamba Juice to offer plant-based alternatives
💡Consumer brands like Kellogg and Nestlé are increasing distribution of plant-based products
💡Faux-chicken as a category, especially primed for growth in 2022
Our Thoughts💡: We get that cigarettes, booze, dope etc can be considered "bad" but is eating meat really a sin?!
Personally, we love a boldly seasoned, crispy, marinated all-white chicken patty.. 🍗

Education 📚 : Oxford named World's Best University for record 6th year, Forbes reports.
Universities globally have witnessed their ranking rise as they've been on the front line of research and development of a Covid-19 vaccine.
According to the Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2022:
💡#1: University of Oxford (UK)
💡#2: California Institute of Technology (US)
💡#3: Harvard University (US)
💡#4: Stanford University (US)
💡#5: University of Cambridge (UK)
💡#6: Massachusetts Institute of Technology (US)
💡#7: Princeton University (US)
💡#8: University of California, Berkeley (U.S.)
💡#9: Yale University (US)
💡#10: University of Chicago (US)
Despite US being the most represented country+President Biden including higher education as part of his $6 trillion spending plan, the superiority of American universities is becoming increasingly vulnerable, Forbes.
“It is clear that US higher education is under increasing pressure following the rise of higher education systems around the globe”
Sports 🎾 : Naomi Osaka questions her future in tennis.
"Recently, when I win, I don’t feel happy, I feel more like a relief. And then when I lose, I feel very sad," the 23-year-old said.
"I don't think that's normal."
Osaka considered taking a break after losing the US Open to 18-year old Leylah Fernandez from Canada.
"I was telling myself to be calm, but I feel like maybe there was a boiling point."
"I honestly don’t know when I’m going to play my next tennis match [..] I think I'm going to take a break from playing for a while."
Meanwhile, Piers Morgan looked at it quite differently.. 👇🏻
Zero fight. She doesn't want to be on that court. That's not giving her hell, that is just what it is for her. Period.
PS. Does working on mental health mean not being a good sport? Asking for a friend. Should've taken some of that time to grow up..
Our Thoughts💡: We have to change the way we talk about Osaka. She doesn't owe anyone a goddamn thing. Tennis is what she does. Not who she is. To hold her honesty against her is UNFAIR. Period.
Also, social media needs trolls need to stop comparing her to the William sisters. If you don't have anything good to say.. take a nap 👋
Entertainment 🎥 : The 78th Venice Film Festival is currently taking place and will go on till September 11th.
One of the most highly-awaited movies featured at the festival has been Pablo Larrain's Spencer starring Kristen Stewart as Princess Diana.
Two great movies about Kristen Stewart going into a deadly, blood-sucking family lmao👇🏻
Stewart plays the late Princess Diana during 3 days at Sandringham over Christmas 1991, before she separates from Prince Charles.
The Twilight actress is already receiving critical acclaim for her performance.Stewart's casting seems like "a meta stroke of genius"
-The New York Times
"Stewart will be justifiably awards-tipped for this"
-The Telegraph
The film as "audaciously original" and Stewart as "incandescent" if "on the edge of hysteria from the start"
-The Hollywood Reporter
"Rich and intoxicating and altogether magnificent"
-The Guardian's Five-star review
