This Week in Review ☕: The Best City in the World to live in | UK elects new Prime Minister | The Richest Generation in history | Millennials are ill-prepared| Shoppers become conscious of spending as
Quick Bites:
Politics 🇬🇧: Outgoing UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak quits after crushing Conservative Party defeat.
The opposition Labour Party secured a landslide victory in Thursday’s nationwide election, after which Sunak handed his resignation to King Charles III.
Umm If I was Rishi Sunak I would've resigned pre-election and be known forever as the Chancellor that let everyone get paid to not work for three months, found unprecedented funding for healthcare, and gave everyone a month of half price Nandos 🌯Should've quit while u was ahead, mate 🫢
Sunak was appointed prime minister in October 2022, becoming the first British Asian to take office. He held the post for just 20 months.
“This is a difficult day, at the end of a number of difficult days [..] “I have given this job my all, but you have sent a clear signal, and yours is the only judgment that matters,”
-Rishi Sunak
Umm looks like he didn't follow his billionaire father-in-law's advice about working 70 hours a week lmao
The Conservative Party suffered its lowest result, in terms of seats, in its post-war history.
High-profile members of parliament in the election such as Grant Schapps, the party’s defense spokesperson, and Penny Mordaunt, the leader of the House of Commons, failed to secure another term, CNBC reports.
Our Thoughts💡: We are so NOT interested in British politics and have no interest to learn more bc it's SO damn fake and confusing.. Didn't this Rishi Sunak start like a year ago or smh? What about the old lady before him that quit in like 3 days...??? 🤔🤔
Finance 💰: Millennials are very "ill-prepared" to become the richest generation in history.
Over the next 20 years, they are set to inherit $90 trillion in assets, which will likely make them the "wealthiest generation ever".
However, experts say "they're not as well-prepared as the wealth creating generation" to deal with this massive influx of money, CNBC.
This great wealth transfer to millennials will consist of assets including real estate, stocks and businesses, CNBC.
They will inherit most of this money from their parents and grandparents; i.e the baby boomer generation.
Umm if grandpa does come thru, we're not telling anyone but there will be signs.. 👇🏻😈
Wealth managers suggest that:
By the time the millennials inherit this wealth, they will be in their 40s and may not have the ability or mindset to start their own business or begin investing.
The millennial generation is likely to be focused on short-term pleasures while those that precede them are more focused on saving for milestones like family building and retirement.
As a millennial, we personally DESPISE being clichéd as lazy, avocado toast eaters who splurge on overpriced coffee all day😡
Like what about Gen Z???? 🤔We see 14-year olds order smashed avo with crumbled feta & fried eggs on seeded multigrain bread at $30 a pop at our local cafe😱
Like, how tf are THEY affording to eat like this? $30 everyday could go towards a deposit on a house or a car KIDS!👋👋
Our Thoughts💡: While we're on the topic of money.. Just a quick reminder that F**k U money is NOT 5 months of your household costs ❌❌
Thanks and good luck surviving out there🙏🏻
Quality of Life 🌎 : The best city to live in the world has been revealed.
For those guessing, think Beethoven and Mozart, Wiener Schnitzels and Sacher Tortes and Baroque palaces and gardens
Quality of life is best in Vienna, according to The EIU, a sister organization to The Economist.
This finding comes after 173 cities across the globe were ranked on a number of significant factors, including health care, culture and environment, stability, infrastructure and education.
In Vienna, they use the term 'Lebenskunst': the art of living well. The city offers overall stability, good infrastructure, low crime rate, low pollution and great public transport.
Each year, the local municipality spends almost 1/5th of its budget on social welfare and subsidized housing.
After Vienna as #1, we have:
2. Copenhagen, Denmark
3. Zurich, Switzerland
4. Melbourne, Australia
5. Calgary, Canada tied with Geneva, Switzerland
6. Vancouver, Canada
7. Sydney, Australia
8. Osaka, Japan
9. Auckland, New Zealand
Work 🇬🇷 : Greece becomes the first country in the EU to introduce a 6-day working week.
Umm when inflation is so bad even your work days increase. Also, wait hold on. Aren't the Euros all about boundaries and naps? 🫢
Greece has controversially introduced a six-day working week for some businesses in an aim to boost productivity and employment.
The regulation, which came into effect on July 1, goes against a global trend of companies exploring a shorter working week.
Coming to work on Saturday after a vacation is a cruel reminder of why we went on vacation in the first place 😫😫
PS. The only work we're doing today is calculating how long we can survive without a job 🗓️
Our Thoughts💡: Tbh, countries should definitley not follow Greece's playbook.
Yeah, like therapy is cool, but do mentally stable do THIS?😳👇🏻

Fashion 👠: Thrifting becomes cool.
As the younger generation becomes more conscious of their spending and lifestyle choices, thrift stores rise in popularity.
Key Reasons for consumer shift towards Thrifting:
💡Sustainability: As more people become aware of the environmental impact of fast fashion, thrifting gives pre-owned items a second life
💡Unique Finds: You can find unique, one-of-a-kind pieces. Whether it's vintage clothing, retro decor pieces, or collectibles, these are hard to find in a traditional retail store
💡Community Support: Many thrift stores are run by charitable organizations or support local causes
💡Creative Expression: Thrifting allows you to explore your personal style by mixing and matching unique pieces to create your own distinctive look.
💡Affordability: A budget-friendly option to experiment with fashion without breaking the bank
Our Thoughts💡: Ladies, may the thrift shop odds ever be in your favor👛👒👜🕶️🌂
