This Week’s Digest:
Tech 📱: Elon Musk has completed his $44bn deal for Twitter. The company's CEO and CFO were fired and escorted out of headquarters.
Elon owning Twitter is like the substitute teacher who just showed up to class and now we do whatever we want
According to Reuters, Musk called each one individually into his office and played a recording of Donald Trump saying "YOU'RE FIRED"
BREAKING💡: ELON TELLS TWITTER EMPLOYEES THEY CAN WORK FROM HOME JUST NOT FOR TWITTER
Key Highlights:
💡Musk and Twitter closed the deal on October 27
💡CEO Parag Agarwal received a "golden parachute" amount of $38.7mn, the CFO Ned Segal received $25.4mn, the Chief Customer Officer recieved $12.5mn and General Counsel recieved $11.2mn
💡Musk has merged the company with X Holdings and dissolved Twitter's board of directors entirely. He is now the sole director
💡A "war room" was established to discuss next steps, with Spiro, Sacks and others
💡Twitter shares have stopped trading publicly and the company was delisted from the New York Stock Exchange on October 28, in accordance with Musk's pledge to take the company private
The NY Times reported on October 29 that Musk had ordered company-wide layoffs, instructing managers to compile lists of employees to be dismissed.
Our Thoughts💡: Personally, we expect Twitter to run the same except it'll now receive ginormous government subsidies and just occasionally burst into flames.
For instance, just recently Elon tweeted💡: "Twitter obviously cannot become a free-for-all hellscape, where anything can be said with no consequences"
Within minutes of his statement, his cult fans bombarded Twitter with racist, homophobic, transphobic, xenophobic, lipophobic, gynophobic, everything phobic hate speech
Culture 📺 : Disney reveals its first ever plus-sized heroine, in movie about body dysmorphia.
Disney got their 1st fat female as the main lead and the movie is about her being fat lmao
Can't a fat person just have like, an adventure?
Key Highlights, according to NY Times:
💡In the company's 85-year history, plus-size characters have only ever been villains or extras
💡The short film called "Reflect" is available to watch on Disney+
💡The film follows the story of Bianca- a young, curvy ballet dancer 'battling her own reflection, overcoming doubt and fear by channeling her inner strength, grace and power'
💡Directed by Hillary Bradfield, who has worked on films like "Frozen II,” “Encanto” and “Avatar: The Way of Water,” the film “is about body positivity”
💡Last year, Disney was accused of promoting 'unrealistic beauty standards' on children
Our Thoughts💡: We still can't get over it. Can people have any experiences in life NOT related to weight? 🙏
We mean, it definitely didn't help that companies like Krispy Kreme and Nathan's Hot Dogs were offering free doughnuts and weiners to everyone who got the jam the past 2 years.
Which, tbh, is fantastic news for anyone who wanted to avoid the virus but still had an obesity wish.
Halloween Weekend 🎃 : In a much-needed turnaround from the past 2 years where the scariest mask was to wear NO mask at all 👻 , Halloween 2022 went in full swing.

Given the steep price tags, fashion houses like Bottega Veneta have launched a "certificate of craftsmanship" to promote the longevity of their products.
Bottega will now offer a lifetime warranty for its handbags, offering an unlimited refresh and repair service.
The Kering group's luxury label wishes to highlight the durability of "intrecciato", the leather braiding technique that has become the Bottega Veneta's signature, Fashion Network reports.
