Popcorn Movies 🍿
This Week in Review ☕️ : Dyson has been investing in the Future | Virgin Atlantic becomes the first airline to change rules | Majority of movie-goers want these foods at cinemas | Harry Potter fans |
Quick Bites:
The Future 🤖 : Dyson has secretly been building robots.
Best known for its iconic hairbrush with as many add-ons as a high-end vaccum (this is for all you ladies with the frizzy hair 🙄), Dyson now wants to be a global leader in household robots.
Dyson has been researching the technology for the past decade. Prototypes include robots doing domestic chores like loading the dishwasher and cleaning plates, TechCrunch reports.
Alright, a company that picks up after us is something we can get behind!💯
Let's be honest💡: from flipping cheeseburgers to cutting vegetables to washing dishes- robots can do it cheaper, better & faster.
Robots work 24/7. They don't need a toilet break, They can't catch Covid since they don't have an immune system- let alone a weak one, They don't need Maternity leave & They definitely don't need vacation time to go sunbathing in Capri.
They really are coming for us..
Our Thoughts💡: How quickly can Dyson automate our dishes? Asking for a friend…
On a side note: The annual Dyson sale is around the corner and there'll be deals on sale from Air Purifiers to their Supersonic Blow dryers for meaty savings.
Like Thanksgiving leftovers, you can't enjoy Pumpkin Pie & Turkey-everything bliss forever, so grab em' while you can. There's no knowing how long they'll last..
Food 🍿 : 55% of movie-goers want more vegan snacks.
A recent survey conducted by Fandango- the largest online movie ticket sales platform in the US showed a majority of respondents revealed they want healthier, vegan options in theaters.
“Summer moviegoing season is in full swing, and it’s that time of year when fans are craving those spectacular ‘popcorn movies'. We call them ‘popcorn movies’ for a reason: because concessions are an essential part of the theatrical experience.”
-Fandango Managing Editor Erik Davis said in a statement.
A recent example of cinemas catering to changing consumer behavior is:
Impossible Foods partnering up with The Walt Disney Company to create the "Get the Plant Patty Started" vegan burger to coincide with the premier of The Bob's Burger Movie.
For those health nuts who can't find plant-based options at their local cinema, here are some "accidentally vegan" options for you to snuggle into those red leather recliners and enjoy movie night:
💡Tacos and Guacamole
💡SourPatch Kids
💡Skittles, Sweet Tarts and Twizzlers
💡Soft Pretzels
💡Vegan Jerky
💡Gourmet Sweet Candy Coated Peanuts
💡BRING YOUR OWN DAMN SNACKS
Retail 💫 : Attention all Muggles! A bit of magic might be coming to your wallet this summer.
Were you an OG Harry Potter fan? Because if you own an old copy of the book, you might get rich.
First edition Harry Potter books set to sell for atleast £200,000, The Metro reports.
According to the Metro:
💡Christie's Auction House is already inviting offers starting from £200,000 in the private sale
💡These books, signed by author J.K.Rowling, still have some original errors before they were corrected for future editions
💡Only 500 hardback copies of the Philosopher's Stone were printed in 1997
"In many ways, this book is the physical manifestation of a magic memory for so many people and that's what makes it so desirable"
Ahem..🙄.. we KNOW. Gryffindor for dayzzzz 🙌🏻
Our Thoughts💡: Who here qualifies as a TRUE Potterhead obsessed with the wizarding world? The criterion:
💡You've read the books (OBVIOUSLY the most important point!)
💡You do movie marathons (It's equivalent to watching a single HP movie for you)
💡You've tried to make Hogsmeade's Special Butter Beer and HoneyDukes' Chococlate Frogs at home
💡You've made your own powerful wand (Wingardium Leviosa!)
💡You own Harry's iconic burgundy and yellow Gryffindor-inspired scarf
💡You despise Slytherin and all things Lucius Malfoy
Consumer Culture ✈️ : Virgin Atlantic has lifted its ban on cabin crew having visible tattoos, the first airline to do so, The Guardian reports.
Shout out to Virgin for understanding that ink has NOTHING to do with professionalism!
Until now, Virgin- like other carriers- would only hire staff that were able to hide tattoos under their uniform.
The airline said that the new rules were “in line with our focus on inclusion and championing individuality.”
However, neck and face tattoos will still not be permitted.
Virgin has also got rid of its rule that female air hostesses must wear make-up in 2019 and could choose to wear trousers instead of a skirt, which was previously mandatory, The Guardian.
Our Thoughts💡: Virgin being the first prominent flight crew to show off their tattoos? A step towards less physical appearance stigma AND more body art please!
PS. We dig a starry galaxy on the upper lats
