This Week in Review☕️: Canada Goose gets a frosty reception | Holiday Shopping has begun | The Secret to living long | Moms want to pause their careers | Joe Biden slammed for sunbathing amid the war
Quick Bites:
Fashion🧥: Canadians are known for being proud of 3 things: Drake, their maple syrup and native fashion label 'Canada Goose'.
With temperatures as low as -22 degrees (yep, that's Fahrenheit 🥶), Canadians depend on Canada Goose outerwear to stay alive. Literally.
However, despite being known as "the warmest coat you will ever buy", the fashion brand is getting a frosty reception on Wall Street this month, with shares plunging to a record low after analysts downgraded the stock, Toronto Star reports.
Shares fell by nearly 10% last Thursday, hitting a 52-week low and the company's stock is down by +30% this year.
The company's $200 shirts and $1000+ jackets are not only getting difficult to sell in a weak economy but also due to the shift to working from home.
Tbh we love their parkas but nobody needs to spend $1500 on something they can get at North Face for one-tenth of the price 👋🏻
Warmer-than-usual fall weather has also been a key reason in declining sales.
Y'all still wanna tell us global warming is a myth?!👇🏻
Our Thoughts💡: On a related but unrelated note about global warming:
Greta Thunberg, the poster child for climate change, has been accused of anti-semitism by Israel for defending Gaza and featuring a toy octopus in her pro-Palestinian picture.
Apparently the massacre of 1000 Israeli civilians has no carbon footprint.. looks like along with the weather, her head has overheated as well.. 🤯
@Greta STAY IN YOUR LANE GURL 👋🏻
War 🇺🇸: US President Joe Biden slammed for hitting the beach.
The world is on fire and Joe Biden is at the beach.. 81 million votes they say 🤷🏻♀️
Nap time is between 12 and 2 pm. He'll get back to playing President after a diaper change and some warm oatmeal
PS. Dude laying like he already dead. Someone check on #SLEEPYJOE 😬😬😬😬
Rapper 50 Cent took to Instagram to call out the President for taking another vacation. The famous musician wrote : “Hey Joe get the f**k up, we in trouble man!”
PS. What book is Jill Biden reading?! How to annihilate the US overnight ???????? 🤔
This October:
💡Iran threatening to join the war against Israel
💡Hezbollah stepping up attacks
💡China's navy making a move on the Middle East
💡Hamas holding US civilians hostages
💡Maui residents still without homes
💡A global cost of living crisis
💡An 8% mortgage rate
Meanwhile Joe Biden is taking a power walk in Delaware.. Yep, we F**KED🙈
Our Thoughts💡: Joe Biden's pricey vacations are under investigation by the Senate. Impeachment to follow.
Retail 🎁: 48% of Gen Z will do their holiday shopping via social media this year, CNBC reports.
Dk about you guys but we're already dreaming of holiday indulgences.. From counting down to 5pm at work to scouring Macy's for affordable fur boots to finding show-stopping turkey and wow-worthy pudding recipes.. Festive szn is here baby 😍
This year however, consumer decision-making will not be influenced by search engines or brand websites.
For Gen Z, a product is cool because the right person- usually one who came across their TikTok or Instagram feed- has it, CNBC.
With in-app shopping features, the funnel to buy products has even become shorter.
In addition, Gen Z is driving luxury sales as wealthy shoppers get younger. Analysts are attributing some of that demographic shift to social media as well.
By 2030, Gen Z and the younger Generation Alpha are expected to make up 80% of global purchases; all thanks to their "precocious attitude to luxury", CNBC.
Personally, we think Gen Z are a bunch of spoilt whiners- not to mention the LAZIEST generation in history
But here's the good news. If you're Gen Z, not a complete twat & have an average work ethic, you're already guaranteed huge success. The competition has never been so weak
Our Thoughts💡: Our life consists of online shopping, going to Walmart, strolling on TikTok and hitting the gym. We don't even go outside no more.
Top 5 things we're excited about this festive season:
🍪Starbucks Sugar Cookie Almond Milk Lattes
👢Uggs fuzzy slippers
🎵Mariah Carey Christmas carols
🍹Rum balls
🍫Homemade eggnog
Health🌱: If you want to live long, healthy habits can only get you so far.
Research is making clearer the role that genes play the dominant role in living to very old age, according to The Wall Street Journal.
For those who want to celebrate turning 100 years old, it will ultimately come down to your genes.
Habits like getting enough sleep, working out and eating the right nutrition can only help you to an extent.
About 25% of your ability to live to 90 is determined by genetics, says Dr. Thomas Perls, a professor of medicine at Boston University.
By age 100, it’s roughly 50% genetic, he estimates, and by around 106, it’s 75%.
However, Perls estimates that roughly 20% of the population has the genetic makeup that could get them to 100 if they also make consistent healthy choices.

The secret to longevity right there folks👆🏻
Work 💻: Moms want to take a break from their career.
Women who leave their jobs after becoming parents may do so because of child care or stress, but those aren't the most common reasons.
More than 8 out of 10 stay-at-home moms in a recent survey wanted more time with their kids, TIME magazine reports.
Key Highlights on why mothers scale back their careers, according to the survey conducted by “Mother Untitled":
Mothers want to spend more time with their kids
Not wanting to miss milestones or witness their children’s development
Child care is too expensive
Moms want more flexibility but also acceptance of "downshifting", TIME reports.
It’s high time we normalize moms taking a break from their careers and have a viable path to return.
