This Week in Review☕️: The Most Exclusive Ivy League has a downfall | Buckingham Palace release this years Christmas Card | McDonalds opens Coffee and Snacks restaurant | | The Price of Love soars |
Quick Bites:
Higher Education 📚: In a shocking downfall for one of the world's most exclusive ivy leagues, the President of UPenn resigns.
Liz Magill stepped down after receiving heavy criticism for her testimony about antisemitism in Congress last week.
Background💡: Magill said it's "context-dependent" whether the genocide of Jews could be called bullying or harassment.
Q: Did Magill actually resign or did she get axed?
A: It depends on the context
In addition, she faced months pressure from Jewish students, alumni and donors who said she hadn't taken seriously their worries about antisemitism at the school, CNBC reports.
Hopeful start but won't change the culture unless they replace Magill with someone who isn't a raging anti-semite and is willing to punish students who terrorize Jews on campus🔪
Our guess is she'll be swiftly replaced with another woke commie. However, the new commie will be less obvious to defend modern day Nazis in public🙄
Penn lost an estimated $100 million donation after Magill's testimony.
The donor's lawyers cited the school's "laissez-faire attitude toward harassment and discrimination against Jewish students", CNBC.
Ah ok so that's why she got the boot. i.e This is what happens when you piss off rich people👇🏻
Umm BYE FELICIA 👋🏻
Holiday Season 🎄: Buckingham Palace releases this year's Christmas card.
The photograph shows King Charles III and Queen Camilla newly crowned after their coronation on May 6 this year.
And below is William's and Kate's card, which sees the Wales' family posing together against a simple backdrop, dressed in coordinated white shirts and denim.
Umm isn't this meant to be a magnificent and regal card? Looks like an ad for a clearance at Gap
ALSO, Kate said Meghan in jeans was too casual for their first meeting at their home. But here she is in jeans for a "royal" Xmas card while her father-in-law is decked out in a fancy hat and long velvet cape worn by King George VI from the 30s 🙄🙄
What a gigantic fuss over a damn card. Hypocrisy and depression wrapped up for the season 😡
Our Thoughts💡: Harry and Meghan not being in the Xmas card is sending us off!! Meghan told them living by British rules is not for her!! She's probably up in Hollywood with her blended family watching Oprah while eating quinoa cookies and getting a dragon tattoo of Kate's eyeball!
PS. We know this is petty but we wish Harry & Meghan release their own festive card at the Spencer's estate with Archie and Lilibet in formal attire 🙏🏻
Food 🍫: Churro Frappés, S’mores Cold Brew, Turmeric Spiced Lattes and Caramel Fudge brownies.. Do we have your attention yet?
McDonald's opens its 1st spin-off restaraunt, CosMc's, that will focus on coffee and afternoon pick-me-up snacks.
Pronounced like "cosmic", the beverage-first McDonald's spinoff seems to be a grab at markets currently served by the likes of Starbucks and Dunkin' Donuts.
The menu highlights coffee and energy boosters, and it includes at least 15 syrup flavors, from caramel to prickly pear, NPR reports.
Who wants drinks with 500gm of sugar and god knows what chemical shitstorm?! We had a Starbucks coffee frappuccino the other day, no flavor, extra shot of expresso & later found it was equivalent of 15 glazed donuts!! Thought it was just coffee blended with ice!! 🤯🤯
Mcdonald's CEO told investors that customers grabbing a quick pre-work coffee or a midday fruity tea are a “$100 billion category” that’s growing faster than the rest of fast food.
"Think of it as an out-of-this-world solution for the 3 p.m. slump."
Yeah because eating M&M flurries and pretzel bites post lunch WON'T make you crash🤔
i.e The company just said f**k nutrition. Time to CASH in on the munchies 💰😈
Our Thoughts💡: Ok folks, we gonna call it like it is:
We're about to see the world conform to a permanent milk-bag-body type.
i.e Dead outta shape, chunky saggy fat, not a ton of muscle, better bond with gravity than most. FAR LESS impressive than a Dad-bod.
All thanks to McDonalds, you will now get a McSugarCookieButterMochaBeanNut Frappe for half the price.
They have even more authority to sell super-sugary drinks- but only now with staggering caffeine🙀
Long story short: y'all gonna get fat af 🐷🐷
Relationships❤️: The price of love shoots up.
More and more single people are relying on dating apps to find love- and the apps are making the most of it, jacking up prices to hundreds or even thousands of dollars a month, CNBC reports.
We ain't spending this kinda $$$.. We deleting all our dating apps and meeting people the old-fashioned way (+2 years of a sexually tense relationship that turns into cat and mouse games until one of us checks into therapy)
Key Highlights, according to CNBC:
💡Around 35% of Americans who have used a dating website have paid to do so at some point
💡The average paying user spends around $19 a month
💡The League, a members-only, VIP dating app costs $999 a week or $2,499 a month. The VIP membership allows users to use a concierge service that will help you “win at this dating game”
💡In September, Tinder rolled out a $499 monthly subscription
💡Hinge recently introduced the same at $600 a month
Our Thoughts💡: Tbh, part of the thrill of dating apps is not knowing whether you'll meet your soulmate of if you'll end up murdered in a ditch and worn as a skin suit.
PS. We love when men on dating apps write "Entrepreneur" in their bio. Babes just say you're unemployed and let's move on ✌🏻
Health 🚬: Uncertain future for the Tobacco Industry.
British American Tobacco (BAT) has announced that it's writing down roughly $31.5 billion in value of some of its brands, according to Reuters.
The company stated that it believes the traditional cigarette market does not have a long-term future.
This markdown is the first time that a major global tobacco company has downgraded its value.
A rise in vaping, greater health risks and stricter government regulations, including a planned menthol ban have come under the spotlight.
Brands affected by the valuation include Newport, Camel, Pall Mall and Natural American Spirit brands.
The CEO of BAT described the move as “accounting catching up with reality.”
He added that while he did not believe that cigarettes would disappear in 30 years, the cost was no longer justifiable, Reuters.
