This Week in Review☕️: Watch out for Fake Ozempic as demand for drug skyrockets | New variant of Covid makes headlines again | Bigger Burgers are coming | Signature Holiday Cocktails of the season |
Quick Bites:
Health 💊: Watch out for fake Ozempic.
Ugh not Facebook showing us Ozempic ads right before our New Years diet 😭
As demand surges for weight-loss drugs, the FDA is warning that fake versions of one such medication, Ozempic, have been found at legitimate retail shops.
The FDA recently seized thousands of units of fake Ozempic injection pens, but that more may still be on the market.
Our Christmas wishlist:
💡Apple Macbook Air 15
💡Dyson Airwrap
💡Ozempic
💡Nike Air Jordans
💡A Cartier watch
💡A lobotomy
💡Lexapro
These fake drugs can be identified by the lot number 'NAR0074' and serial number '430834149057'. Wholesalers have been warned not to receive or distribute these packages, FDA reports.
The desperation for these medications has been extremely lucrative for sellers, despite the dangerous side-effects for users.
Umm no shit, one does not simply eat a box of Krispy Kreme, not exercise and still lose weight🙄
Tbh a part of us can understand the demand. We're not big on exercise either.. we've never run a marathon or anything, but this ONE time we did sprint across the parking lot bc a McDonalds was about to close☺️
Our Thoughts💡:
Us not on any weight-loss drugs, tryna minimize the damage done by 5 days of binge-eating with a single meal tonight👇🏻
Pandemic 🦠: The new Covid variant JN.1 is here. The WHO has already classified it as a "variant of interest".
When you laughing at all the Covid memes but the laughing suddenly turns into dry coughing 🤯🤯
Nearly 7 months after the WHO withdrew the public health emergency notification for Covid-19, the virus is fast-spreading again.
Though the WHO states the global public health risk of JN.1 is low, it warned that countries approaching winter may amplify respiratory disease seasons.
Please take caution guys! Being vaxxed does NOT mean you take a vacation to the Swiss Alps, only to pretend to be your pop star doppelgänger and perform to hundreds of unmasked people at Grindelwald 👋
Our Thoughts💡: Just in time for New Years and the holidays. Cheerio 🥂
PS. If another lockdown happens, we gonna blow our brains out for sure.. but we also wouldn't have to commute two hours on the tube, only to see our nasty boss and drink subpar coffee at work everyday🙏🏻
Food🍔: McDonalds says: Bigger burgers are coming.
“In a number of markets, around the world, having a larger burger is an opportunity,” CEO Chris Kempczinski told CNN in an interview.
Constipated and in a hurry post your Christmas food-coma yesterday? Why not an extra-large Quarter Pounder with Habanero Ranch Sauce.. That should fix the runs right?🤔
PS. Our 14-year old cousin face-timed us last night. He was eating a McDonalds double cheeseburger while drinking a strawberry milkshake followed by a slice of their baked apple pie 🍔🍟🥤🥧🧁
Must be nice having a young digestive system.. we would've been hospitalised with a tube inserted up our bedonk right now 🤢
McDonald’s has already been working to improve the taste of its iconic burgers. But what they learned was that: in addition to softer buns and gooey-er cheese, people also want a bigger burger.
Yep because there's a shortage of Type 2 Diabetics out there..
The idea of a more sizable burger also comes when many customers are looking for ways to spend less. Infact a costly Mcdonalds burger has somewhat become a symbol of inflation, CNN reports.
Our Thoughts💡: Let's be honest, eating McDonald's has become a rite of passage. Can't help but pull over every time we cross those iconic "M"-shaped arches🍟
Sure it's not a dollar anymore but at $4.99- it's a SOLID bargain for a whole lot of American cheese, ketchup, mayo and meat stuffed in a bun. Especially now that it's gonna be SUPER-SIZED 🎉
PS. Our death row meal is the Deluxe Spicy Crispy McChicken sandiwch with no tomatoes and a side of BBQ for dipping with fries plus a large Cherry Cola
Festive Season🥂: Christmas might be over but the holidays are still very much in full swing till NYE.
For those playing host, we have some great tips for you to throw a downright fabulous holiday party this time of year!
Before we get into the tips💡: Ugly grandma sweaters, Santa hats and elf ears are not just welcome- they're highly encouraged! Bonus points if you arrive riding a reindeer or wearing tinsel as a fashion accessory 💯
Our personal mood this time of year💡: Glitter, sequins, and a current hobby to sing "Jingle Bells" at inappropriate times 🎵
Think disco ball meets pajama party- glamorous but ready for a pillow fight at any moment 🧦
Here are our top tips for you to throw the ultimate holiday party:
1. Start with cheese
If there’s one guest you want to invite to a party, it’s cheese. The yummy dairy product isn’t too much work- in general, it just needs to be room temperature and land on a nice cutting board
2. Pick a wine that goes with any cheese
Pinot Noir and Gruyere, Rioja with Manchego, Cabernet Sauvignon with Gouda, Chardonnay with creamy Camembert
3. Serve starters specific to the festive season
Caviar on dry toast, Crab cake puffs, Deviled eggs, Apple butter cheese twists, Stuffed artichokes, Buttermilk biscuits, Brie crostinis, Crispy feta pockets.. aka GET CREATIVE with your menu
4. Set up a designated photo area with props to capture special moments
5. If you're serving alcohol, include a signature holiday cocktail.
We're thinking Gingerbread Martinis and Classic Eggnog. Also, don't be a bad host and make sure to offer non-alcoholic alternatives for those who don't drink.
And finally, let the holiday shenanigans because it's that time of the year when we all become amateurs and make promises we won't keep! 🎉
Coffee☕️: But first, coffee!
Coffee chains are targeting Singapore as their top location amid global expansion.
Already home to some of the largest coffee chains in the world including Starbucks and Dunkin’ Donuts, Singapore's importance as a global financial hub has attracted major brands to the country.
According to CNBC, in the last few months, 5 major players have set up shop in Singapore:
💡Canada's 'Tim Hortons'
💡China’s 'Luckin Coffee'
💡Indonesia’s 'Kenangan Coffee'
💡Indonesia's 'Fore Coffee'
💡Taiwanese specialty coffee chain 'Louisa Coffee'
Starbucks has more than 140 stores in Singapore while The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf has more than 70 stores.
Singapore remains to be No.1 as the world’s best business environment for the next five years, thanks to factors such as economic and political stability, according to Economist Intelligence Unit’s rankings for the second quarter of 2023.
