As the climate warms, how much, and how quickly, will Earth's glaciers melt? Join Ladakh- a trans-Himalayan Mountain region in Northern India fighting melting glaciers by creating artificial ones.

Named 'The Ice Stupa Project'- Ice Stupa (shown above) is a form of grafting glaciers using winter water that would otherwise go unused.

During summer, when water is scare, these ice cones melt to provide water supply for crops.
With a mission to promote artificial glaciers and save water for irrigation, Ice Stupa is a highly ambitious project. 

In 2019, 12 Ice Stupas were built, this year- 25 are already underway.
