This Week's Digest ️:
☕️ Wise words from The TechnoKing :
️Quick Bites :
Yep.. NFTs 🎨 : Last week, an NFT sold for a record $69.3mn in a sale at Christie's. The price for "Everydays- The First 5,000 Days" by the artist Beeple, is a new high for a digital artwork.
To put that in context, a Vincent van Gogh brought in "only" $16mn last October, Bloomberg.
We really do need an apocalypse or asteroid to wipe out this retarded planet. Some halfwit just spent $69mn on what essentially is a jpeg.
Hell, you can take a screenshot now and own the exact same piece of art without paying a dime.
Beeple has now entered the Top 3 Expensive Living Artists in the world. Until today, his most expensive piece was $100. Mad, mad world.
New Headline: "Beeple dupes the People"
The sale comes shortly after a GIF of a Pop-Tart shaped animated cat went for almost $600,000 in February, NY Times. (shown below)
In other words, the über wealthy have now found a new way to stash, embezzle and transfer their money lmao
💡A digital artwork sold for $69mn
💡A 10-second video clip artwork sold for $6.6mn
💡A clip of a LeBron James' slam dunk just sold for $200,000
Welcome to 2021. The Future is Non-Fungible
Our Thoughts💡: What if you could store such Art in a Special Folder?
An Art Folder. Signed and Sealed digitally.
A NFT Folder.

Streaming 🍿 : A huge milestone for The House of Mouse as Disney+ surpasses 100 million subscribers in 16 months.
Damn, the #CancelDisneyPlus hashtag worked so well it led to Disney hitting 100mn.
PS. We wonder how much the number goes down when the 10th episode of WandaVision doesn't drop Friday
Time it took to hit 100mn paying users:
💡Netflix : 10 years, 6 months
💡Disney: 16 months
The streaming network now has carte blanche to be even bolder with original content, which builds on an already extensive catalog of Star Wars and Marvel.
It is, however, a case in point for folks who doubted the feasibility of remote work.
The company definitely got lucky with timing as it launched it's streaming service in November 2019- just months before the world went on lockdown and we were like 👇🏻
Time for other Entertainment giants to cross 100mn paying users :
💡Amazon Prime: 13 years
💡Spotify: 11 years
💡iQIYI : 10 years
💡Tencent Video: 9 years
💡Facebook Watch: Nobody gives a f***
Highlights from Disney's Shareholder Meeting:
💡A goal of 100 new programs for Disney+
💡Disneyland will reopen in late April with 66% greater capacity
💡Avengers' Campus in California will reopen late 2021
💡'Black Widow' movie still set for May theatrical release
Beauty 🛍 : Consumer goods giant Unilever to remove the word “normal” on it's products all over the world. The move comes as an attempt to be more "equitable and inclusive".
If you've been sanitizing your hands, used a brand-name cotton swab, or applied petroleum jelly to your chapped lips, it’s almost certain that you’ve used a Unilever product.
Think- Vaseline, Lifebuoy, Dove, St.Ives.. Ring a bell?
Ok, so there shouldn't be a hair or skin type labeled as "normal" ? How the hell do we know what products to buy..?
New "Inclusive" Face Cream in 2021. Suitable for skin types:
💡Oily af
💡Somewhat oily
💡Neither oily nor dry
💡Somewhat dry
💡Dry af
💡None ( Go see dermatologist 🙏 )
Is this the 'new normal' the world keeps talking about? Moisturizer is not a value judgement, you guys 🧴
Our Thoughts💡: Unilever: We want to "do more good for people and the planet"
Your USA customer service just suggested we taken a 50-mile journey to return a damn deodorant.
Entertainment 🏆 :Beyoncé celebrates historic win after breaking the record of most Grammys won by a Female Artist.
#WhoRunTheWorldGirls
With the Best R&B Performance for "Black Parade", Beyoncé has won her 28th Grammy, surpassing Alison Krauss who has 27 awards.
PS. Are we the only ones who don't know who Alison Krauss is?
Our Thoughts💡: Sasha Fierce stealing the spotlight, as always. Couldn't even let her bff Meghan have her moment 🙈
Lifestyle 🐶 : Households welcomed more than 3.2mn pets in lockdown, BBC reports.
Enough so, that the price of pups has gone through the roof and dog snatching is up 10 fold.
The new kind of kidnapping- "Dognapping": Kidnap dogs when their owners take em out for a poop
However, this new obsession has led to a shortage of pet food. UK supermarkets have warned of a food crunch following the 'unprecedented' rise in dog and cat ownership.
PS. Our chihuahua isn't impressed. She got rather fond of roast beef and ground chicken.
While, a rise in demand is the primary reason, it seems like increased lead times, additional costs of importation + the inevitable fall out of Brexit has made the shortages worse.
Still a whopping +80% of pet food pouches are imported into the UK!
Our Thoughts💡: Let's hope households keep 3.2mn pets after this godforsaken pandemic is over. Remember our furry friends are for life, not just lockdown.
