-Brad Pitt
Yep, this is for all you botox-ed ladies who enjoy going under the knife as often as y'all enjoy throwing shade at each other!! 👋
Background💡: Entering the Skincare Industry has been a home run for celebrities. As we self-medicate with booze and botox, celebs & influencers are minting money, one body wash at a time.
A look at the celebs who have launched skincare brands in 2022:
💡Scarlett Johansson: The Outset, a clean beauty brand that centers on a three-step daily regimen of a cleanser, prep serum and moisturizer. Currently, available at Sephora.
💡Winnie Harlow: Cay Skin, focused on sun care. “I have worn sunscreen my whole life, especially having vitiligo and being from the Caribbean.
💡Kim Kardashian: Skkn by Kim, for “all skin types, tones and textures at every stage of maturity.”
💡Hailey Bieber: Rhode, an affordable skincare line under $30. Rhode's philosophy is "one of everything really good"
💡Jennifer Lopez: J LO Beauty, a clinically-backed line of high-performance skincare
Lady Gaga, Alicia Keys, Kylie Jenner, Kris Jenner, Cardi B, John Legend.. the list goes on.
Just shows, you can leverage your stardom way beyond your main gig. Our growing suspicion: every celeb will eventually become a VC.
Culture🍺 : Oktoberfest is back! Germany holds 1st Oktoberfest since the pandemic.
After a 2-year break, the beer is flowing and festival-goers are READY for the brutal hangover!
This Saturday, Munich will kick off the world's biggest beer festival, Bloomberg reports.
Over the next 3 weeks, more than 6 million people from Europe and beyond will descend on Munich's festival grounds, consuming some 8 million liters of brew and devouring half a million roast chickens.
The training has begun and only the FITTEST WILL SURVIVE!!🙌🏻
Background💡: Oktoberfest, first held in 1810 in honor of the marriage of Crown Prince Ludwig of Bavaria to Princess Therese, has been cancelled plenty of times during its +200-year history due to wars and disease.
However, it was cancelled for the first time in 2020 since World War II.
Our Thoughts💡: Endless carnival-games, Open-air music concerts, Oil-dripping pork knuckles, Pretzels the size of dinner plates, Homemade German Sausages and Beer mugs the size of tanks.. all with men in leather shorts and women in cleavage-baring traditional Bavarian dresses
Can you feel the pent-up energy?! Because WE CAN 💯💯
Work x Culture 💻 : Attention all Brits! Do y'all not work hard enough?!
Seems like UK workers can't shake the stereotype of being the worst idlers in the world.
Even senior politicians have said that "the British are more interested in football and pop music" than working.
Key Highlights, according to Financial Times:
💡The overall answer is "No". Workers in the UK don’t work among the lowest hours. While the hours are lower than the US and Switzerland, they are higher than Sweden, Germany and France.
💡British workers don’t retire particularly early by international standards either. OECD data shows the average exit age for men in the UK is 63.7 and 62.4 for women
💡Some people probably would work more hours if they had access to more affordable childcare.
💡But even then, longer hours cannot be directly linked to productivity.
For example, a country like Turkey has longer working hours but lower GDP per head while Netherlands has the shortest work week in Europe yet among the highest GDP per head.
Our Thoughts💡: It's a widespread belief thats plagued them since the 60s, but is it fair to generalize all Brits as having poor work ethic?
Personally, we believe every country has a distinct work culture.. BUT Fortune Magazine also just reported that the UK is facing a beer shortage- aka the life and soul of British pubs..
Which is leading us to believe the Brits been choosing their Carlsbergs over their chores!
Space 🚀 : NASA crashes spacecraft into asteroid in direct hit.
The vending machine-sized spacecraft DART successfully collided with the football field-sized asteroid Dimorphos, in a planetary defense test.
The deflection technology could be used should an asteroid pose a threat to Earth, NASA reports.
💡“At its core, DART represents an unprecedented success for planetary defense, but it is also a mission of unity with a real benefit for all humanity [..] demonstrating one way to protect Earth.”
-NASA
💡“This first-of-its-kind mission required incredible preparation and precision, and the team exceeded expectations on all counts"
