Trump, Taxes & Tampons🩸
This Week in Review☕️: Trump does something he has never done before | Toxic chemicals found in tampons | Burberry struggles as it fires CEO | Its Amazons Biggest Sale | Cancer is caused by lifestyle
Quick Bites:
Politics 🇺🇸 : Donald Trump was shot in an assassination attempt at a campaign rally last week.
He escaped with a bullet wound to his ear, which happened this past Saturday in Butler, Pennsylvania.
A gunman on a roof, in clear view, fired at the leading Presidential candidate, and the only thing that prevented Trump from being dead, was his aim. One centimeter to the right and we'd be having a VERY different conversation😱
This was too CLOSE to the vest. God bless AMERICA 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
We hate to say it but this will and HAS only empowered his campaign and supporters. Nothing serves the masses like a martyr. Regardless of your thoughts on him, this will go down in HISTORY 🇺🇸
Key Highlights, reported by SKY News:
💡The sniper, who has been killed, has been named as Thomas Matthew Crooks
💡Crooks was in an "elevated position" outside the rally venue. He has also been identified as a registered Republican
💡Trump was mobbed by the Secret Service who seeked to shield him and was bundled off stage to a waiting armoured vehicle
💡With a bloodied ear, Mr Trump pumped his fist in the air in a show of defiance and shouted "fight" as the cheering audience chanted "USA"
💡Writing on his Truth Social platform, Mr Trump said he was "shot with a bullet that pierced the upper part of my right ear"
💡A spokesman later said Trump is “fine and being checked out at a local medical facility”
Our Thoughts💡: Please don't blame Democrats. Blame the gun laws and the NRA. It's embarrassing that such violence can take place even today. Looks like a freaking circus act🤬
Also, we can't help but read how the internet is calling this a "stunt". Like people think the earth is flat and this is staged. We don’t particularly love Donald Trump, but the man was clearly shot at, which is absolutely terrible. Not everything is a stunt, a PR move or conspiracy theory guys 👋
God, why have internet trolls totally lost it?!! 😤
Hygiene 🩸: Tampons found to contain lead, arsenic and potentially toxic chemicals.
Umm we LOVE how "experts" just casually dropped this bomb on us like its totally normal that we’ve been shoving toxic heavy metals up our puss for decades 🤔🤔
Yeah period panties seem cool but they can't replace the adrenaline rush you get when you realize you've had the same tampon in for 17 hours 😚
PS. The only thing that helped with our PMS was Tampax Super plus. Easier to use a tampon than call our PMS for what it really is:
Estrogen-induced Manic Depressive Bipolar Disorder prone to fits of Psychopathic RAGE & HUNGER 🤬🤯😳🥵🍩🍪🍫🍬🍭🍮
According to a study by the University of Berkeley, 30 tampons from 14 popular brands were tested for 16 different metals- something that obviously no one expected or hoped to find in period products.
However metals including arsenic, lead, mercury, zinc, nickel, copper and iron were found in all products tested.
It also shows how little research has been done about women's health.
The average menstruating person will spend about 5 years of their total reproductive lifespan using 11,000 tampons, sanitary pads, panty liners and other menstrual products, experts say.
Our Thoughts💡:
The news today morning:
💡2 women killed by an ex with a steak knife
💡Tampons have arsenic in them
💡Majority of all mental health issues in women are due to societal expectations
💡Men who abused their women went up 40% after England lost the Euros
The internet:
💡Has feminism gone a step too far?
Fashion 🥿: Burberry fires CEO amid struggles.
The 168-year-old brand has replaced its CEO after just two years as the company reported a 22% revenue drop in its most recent quarter this Monday.
Tbh this is an example of pure greed at play. The consumer is NOT an effing moron. You can’t sell the same basic pique cotton polo shirt which was once priced at £50-£80, now at £275-£350. Or the classic trench that was £700-£800 now at nearly £2,000+
We are NOT having it 🖕🏻
Also, was there really something SO wrong about having Burberry be a conservative, traditional icon of England, where Brits go for their heirloom-quality trenches and scarves? 🙄
Did it really need to try to become LV or Gucci?
LVMH and other fashion houses would greatly benefit from realizing the power of “staying in your lane." ✋
Most luxury fashion brands have struggled post-pandemic, but those with many young, less wealthy customers- like Burberry- have been affected the hardest, The Wall Street Journal reports.
Those customers are more likely to cut back on spending as economies slow, WSJ.
Our Thoughts💡: We're not surprised tbh..
Rebranding and repackaging working class aesthetics for middle class while hiking up prices 10x for it to be available to only the upper class was a GHASTLY idea off the bat 💩💩
Retail 📦 : Time to stock up on your wart medicine and toilet roll! It's Amazon's Prime Day!
Amazon's annual two-day discount event is projected to generate around $14 billion this year, a +10% increase from last year, according to Adobe Analytics.
It's taking place today and tomorrow (July 16-17) in over 20 countries.
Yep we don't need an intro guys..
We know what its like to look for an iPhone charger and come away with a brand new microwave arriving with free 1-day delivery, along with vegan mayo and a bottle of imported Malaysian coconut oil
Key Highlights, reported by Reuters:
💡Amazon began holding Prime Day a decade ago, typically in July
💡Prime Day accounts for 1%-2% of Amazon's net global sales
💡In 2023, shoppers spent $12.7 billion during this event
💡Due to recent high inflation, shoppers have stopped buying non-essential goods and retailers are hoping to break that habit with aggressive discounts
💡Discounts expected: 22% off on electronics, 20% on clothing, 17% on home goods and furniture and 11% on sporting goods
Our Thoughts💡: Personally we're thrilled. It's never too early to start buying crap we don't need.
'Tis the season to be a PRIME MEMBER 🎉
Health 🦠 : Nearly half of adult cancer deaths in the US could be prevented by making lifestyle changes.
About 40% of new cancer cases among adults aged 30 and older in the US, could be attributed to preventable risk factors, according to a new study from the American Cancer Society.
Leading causes of cancer, reported by CNN:
💡Smoking: contributing to nearly 1 in 5 cancer cases and nearly a third of cancer deaths.
💡Excess body weight
💡Alcohol consumption
💡Physical inactivity
💡Diet
💡Infections such as HPV
All this news about smoking being the leading cause of cancer.. Meanwhile, smokers:
"We've decided to publicly announce that we've quit smoking cigarettes so everyone understands why we're about to get really, REALLY fat 🚬🚬🚬
PS. The ONLY way you'll ever really quit is if you stop going into the store, buying a pack of cigs, putting one in your mouth and lighting it on fire👇🏻
As rates of early-onset cancer rise globally, it’s especially important to create healthy habits early.
But “it’s never too late to make these changes.. Turning (health behaviors) around later in life can make a profound difference", CNN.
