Vegan ads get banned 🥑
This Week in Review☕️: Advertising Watchdogs crack down on plant based companies | The new Tesla Restaurant and Movie Theater | Spotify wants to grow 10x | The Most Popular Holiday Destination in 2022
Hey guys,
We are currently running the Touristy Ambassador program! A program where all you gotta do is hit up your network and spread the word!
PS. We're bankrolling this out of our own pocket, so no trips to Capri or free MacBooks yet.
But there'll definitely be cash (lots of it) depending on how many users you can get us!
For whoever is keen- Grab your morning coffee and CLICK HERE to get started!
Quick Bites:
Food 🍔 : Tesco's burger ads get banned.
The British retailer gets in trouble for "misleading" claims that it's plant-based burger could help people "do their bit" for the environment, BBC reports.
Advertising watchdogs are cracking down on companies for "misleading" customers. Some key examples off late:
💡Grass maker Evergreen UK was told the lifecycle of its plastic grass meant it could not claim it was "eco-friendly"
💡A Sainsbury ad became controversial when it suggested switching meat for lentils and chickpeas was better for the planet
💡Leading oat-milk leader- Oatly ads were banned for "overstating" emissions made by the dairy sector recently.
Another Oatly ad claimed that climate experts said cutting dairy and meat from our diets was the single biggest lifestyle change people could make to reduce their environmental impact, The Times reports.
Our Thoughts💡: The banned campaigns are a harsh reminder that ethics matter, even for cult-favorite non-dairy brands credited for making oat milk hot in America!
Clearly, there's more to success than slick marketing and holier-than-thou packaging!
PS. How do ya'll think this will impact Impossible Foods upcoming IPO?
Tech 🍟 : Anyone craving a Big Musk and Fries?
In 2018, Elon Musk tweeted:"Gonna put an old school drive-in, roller skates & rock restaurant at one of the new Tesla Supercharger locations in LA."
While, we're all used to Musk's bizarre tweets, seems like this one might be a reality after 4 years on ice.
Elon Musk Is planning a 24-Hour Tesla Restaurant for Hollywood, Bloomberg Pursuits reports.
PS. If it isn't vegan, the Bay Area crowd is gonna roast Elon 🙈
Tesla's Supercharger tech can add up to 200 miles of range in just 15 minutes, raising the all-important question: Do you want extra ketchup with your fries?
The long-awaited joint will include a drive-in movie theater.
A drive-through cheeseburger and a romantic comedy could be a retro-style solution to charge EVs, we guess?
According to new research, 1 in 5 electric vehicle owners switched back to gas because charging their cars is a hassle, Business Insider reports.
Our Thoughts💡: Hmm.. the very thought of a MuskBuger makes us queasy. God forbid, we order food there and get killed by a driverless meal.
But while we're at it, we'll take a High-Voltage Burger, Solar Nuggets + a large Electron Fries. Oh, and a side order of charge my Tesla Model S, please 🙏
Work 💻 : Startups- a glamorized career path, can actually turn out to be a total nightmare. The “rags to riches” company makes for a good story but doesn’t hold up under scrutiny.

Entertainment 🎧 : Spotify targets 1 billion listeners by 2030 despite profitability concerns, WSJ reports.
This would mean: growing the company by 10x and $100bn in revenue.
CEO Daniel Ek dismissed investor concerns as the share price dropped by 55% this year.
Investors have also expressed fears that the audio-market opportunity is limited, WSJ.
At the company's 1st investor day in four years, Ek said Spotify would grow beyond music, increasing creator tools and moving into audiobooks and even news.
This comes as Spotify recently partnered with Netflix to launch an all-new "Netflix Hub" on the music-streaming app.
The hub will offer soundtracks and playlists from fan favorites including Stranger Things, Bridgerton and Squid Game.
Our Thoughts💡: Seems like a last-ditch effort to keep fans invested in online content as vaccination rates increase and people finally take off their damn AirPods.
What Reed Hastings and Daniel Ek don't know: We don't need a "hub" to continue using Spotify. Or Netflix.
When it comes to great entertainment, portion control is for suckers 💯
