Quick Bites:
Beauty👄: Gen Z is already worried about looking old, according to Business of Fashion.
Unless you're Jennifer Lopez or Will Smith (blessed with incredible genes or have access to the best plastic surgeon in Beverly Hills), you're bound to see those wrinkles kicking in. 👵🏻👵🏻
Us after sipping our bone broth, attacking our pores, applying a soul-shattering $200 retinol face mask, cleansing balm, hydrating mist, wrinkle patches and an LED-light mask minding our biz and knowing all the tea.. 👇🏻
Though the oldest among them is only around 26, Gen-Z is already on edge about looking older.
They're opting for makeup products with anti-ageing benefits like fine-line reduction and SPF protection, and 70% use anti-ageing serums daily, according to intelligence firm Circana.
People call crypto a scam but we been using $100 Neutrogena's Rapid Wrinkle Cream for 6 months and we still aging like a raisin scone🤯
Our parents friends' be commenting: "You don't look your age"
OK SO WHAT TF DO YOU WANT US TO DO NANCY??????!!!!!!! 🤬🤬🤬
Prevention, rather than cure, has become the status quo.
Social media, ofcourse, has had a massive role to play with people spending more time than ever analysing themselves. The pursuit of the perfect selfie has made Gen Z hyper-aware of how they look.
PS. Umm we use so many anti-aging products that, theoretically, we should look about 10
Our Thoughts💡: Ok, we gonna give you guys some solid advice right now:
Aging comes down to a healthy lifestyle. If you gonna get turnt on tequila every night, sleep all day and completely ignore your veggies.. y'all gonna age like organic bananas. Fillers will only make you look older.
NOT Kylie Jenner older who spun her fillers into a billion dollar business. But Lindsay Lohan at the age of 15 and broke as f**k older 😫
Crypto 💰: Good morning to everyone except those who don’t own Bitcoin.
The price of Bitcoin crossed $37,000 last week, touching a new high for 2023.
Sure sex is great, but have you owned $BTC and watched it skyrocket to the moon? 🚀 Sex lasts a few hours (if you're lucky).. $BTC, on the other hand, that sh*t don't stop..
And ALL you had to do was buy and hold. It was that easy.🫢
2009- $0
2011- $0.29
2013- $13
2015- $302
2017- $1,021
2018- $14,944
2019- $3,827
2020- $7238
2021- $34,200
2022- $20,000 (Thanks SBF and Binance🖕🏻)
2023- $37,000
Surreal to think how a Japanese dude called 'Satoshi Nakamoto' changed the world with just 9 pieces of paper and about 15,000 lines of code, today known as "Bitcoin".
Despite a slew of challenges in the crypto industry last year from bankruptcies to regulatory crackdowns, seems like digital coins are finally rebounding.
According to CNBC, Ether has moved back above the key psychological level of $2,000.
Meanwhile, Solana- the no.1 outperformer of the year, is up more than 476% compared to Bitcoin’s 130% rise.
Retail 🛍: Holiday shoppers spent a record $9.8 billion online on Black Friday. That's up 7.5% from 2022, according to Adobe Analytics.
All this $$ spent last Friday. Just a reminder to pay your electricity bill this week or next Friday gonna be Black Friday too y'all 🙄
Key Highlights, according to Adobe Analytics:
💡Around $5.3 billion of the online purchases were via mobile phones
💡Some $79 million in sales were also made through a “Buy Now, Pay Later” plan, up 47% from last year, suggesting tighter budgets
💡Electronics like smartwatches and TVs were the top hot sellers
💡A Mastercard analysis of this year’s Black Friday sales found that in-store sales rose just over 1% versus online sales, which grew by over 8% compared to last year
Our Thoughts💡: Umm.. everyday is Black Friday when you're financially irresponsible👇🏻
Food 🍚 : Global rice shortage biggest in 20 years.
India's export ban on rice is being felt through global rice markets, threatening food security if developing countries cannot access the household staple.
Background, reported by CNBC:
💡September 2022: India banned exports of broken rice and imposed a 20% duty on exports of some rice types
💡July 2023: India banned exports of its plain, white, long-grain rice
💡India’s rice exports make up 40% of the market, so any bans immediately affect prices
💡Rice prices spiked 15% - 20%, hitting their highest in almost 12 years
“India is a country that has suffered from food insecurity in a significant way, so there’s an understandable desire to ensure staple foods like rice within the country”
-CNBC
Our Thoughts💡: On a related but unrelated note:
Speaking of rice.. One of the most commonly eaten dishes in India: Yellow Dal with Rice. Or as in the west they call it 'Lentil soup with Steamed Rice'. Same same.
A standard serving has 11 grams of protein and 70 grams of carbs. Hate to break it to you guys: that is NOT a balanced meal 😑
Climate ❄️: The world's largest iceberg is on the move for the first time in 30 years. Roughly 3 times the size of New York City, this iceberg is called "A23a".
Titanic 2.0 incoming. Hope none of y'all stuck in the Antarctic Sea as we speak 🚢
Despite being split from the Antarctic coastline in 1986, it had been stuck to the floor of the Weddell Sea for three decades.
Scientists will be following the progress of A23a closely.
If it does go towards the Southern ocean, it might cause problems for the millions of seals, penguins and other seabirds that breed on the island.
A23a's great bulk could prevent these mammals from feeding their children properly, BBC reports.
However, it would be incorrect to think of icebergs as dangerous (Jack and Rose in your mind and all that 🙄)
As icebergs melt, they release mineral dust. This dust is a source of nutrients for the organisms that form the base of ocean food chains.
"In many ways these icebergs are life-giving; they are the origin point for a lot of biological activity"
-said Dr Catherine Walker, from the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution to BBC.
